By Ivy League rules, athletes have to complete their 4 years of athletic competition within 5 years. If Yianni does not compete for Cornell next year, choosing instead to train for the now 2021 Olympics, does that mean he will have to be a graduate transfer for his 4th year of NCAA competition? You'd have to think this would be like wrestling's version of "The Decision".

Is he a registered student at Cornell? Don’t know the rules, but can imagine that you need to be enrolled for the clock to run. Just a thought.

The three FR ORS at Cornell were not registered this year. So the clock was not rolling. In a Flo interview, Yianni gave no indication that he would not be wrestling for Cornell next year (i.e., no ORS). He also gave the impression that at least some Cornell seniors (like Tucker) would come back if the Ivy League waived the "no grad students on varsity sports" rule for those affected by this year's cancellations.

So next year, Yianni and Dean will be juniors, and Vito will be a sophomore.

Yes, but in the past the Ivies had been limited to one "Ivy" shirt after the start of enrollment is the point that I think @82bordeaux was trying to make. Contrary to PO, the Ivies do have some RSs used during their enrollments - but the athlete must not be enrolled at the institution.

With this situation, it is possible that Yianni - and others - could take another ORS for NCAA purposes, but how will the Ivies treat this? Normally they are 5 years max for 4 years of competition. My guess is that if they waived the "no grad students on varsity sports" rule, they would also make an exception for this.

When you are at an Ivy you have the NCAA rule set to comply with, but also the Ivy rule set if you want to represent an Ivy.

Thanks Dice,
That's what I was alluding to. Which may be why Yianni tells FLO he is wrestling next year. It seems like it will make his path more difficult given he will be wrestling a full season of folk style prior to the OTTs. It also seems like he would certainly be at 141 pounds at the 2021 NCAAs.
