DT had his boys humming this weekend. Every guy performed at or above seed. Nearly 50% bonus rate for the tournament. Caleb Fish coming off RS at 157 since Teague will seek a MRS.
As good as they looked, I’d feel very confident PSU outplace them at every weight and if PSU dual them, would be a shut out.

They wouldn’t have one guy favored against PSU. (I’m not talking about wrestlestat, I’m talking real life)

Pretty scary the separation..

I can't disagree. The closest bout would be 174 but stylistically that matchup would favor Haines. 197 would be interesting but I'd still take Barr.

I don’t see that one being competitive. Hamiti fun to watch no doubt, but there’s levels to this stuff and there’s a reason Levi is 2 for 2 in finals appearances and Hamiti come tourney time isn’t same as regular season.

The only PSU guy, I still can’t predict with certainty is Barr. He hasn’t lost in college which is impressive, but still not sure what level he’s on. Today will tell a lot

Feldman was on the verge of being pinned. Not sure of the exact injury.

174 would probably be a 4-1 or 7-2 type affair.

Um, I need to see Luke consistently get off the bottom vs college wrestlers. Not saying he can't just have to wait and see. Also Hamiti look solid at 174 and the gasing issues maybe over.

As far as I recall, Luke has escaped every time he's been under, and not too difficultly. That seems consistent enough.

Could a reasonable argument be made that Hamiti, not KOT, is the biggest threat to Levi at 174 this season?
I watched an interview with KOT recently he tore an MCL at the Nationals this year. It affected his performance in the freestyle season. He’s still rehabbing. I think by March he would smoke Hamiti. And I think Levi gets it done again this year.

I agree last night i went over this dual a couple times in my head. Most reasonable previews have us going 10-0. LL and Barr are the maybes for a none PSU fan but I think LL will win it this year and Barr will AA.

Just an opinion, but no.
By the end of the year Hamiti should be in a different "trained to" level than he has been any year prior, but KOT is a different tier than Hamiti.

JMHO, but Hamiti isn't getting smoked by anyone this year. He may lose to both Levi and KOT and I expect him to lose, but a KOT/Hamiti match would be closer than a Levi/Hamiti match but neither would be blowouts..

If you go back and watch the Hamiti/MM match at B1Gs last year, Hamiti is on "that" level on full feed. That said, I think a superior technical wrestler like Levi is not a good matchup for Hamiti, who thrives against less well positioned wrestlers.

KOT is two time champ with outstanding technique-feel-grit- and whatever wrestling I.Q. Is. Hamiti struggled with a RS freshman yesterday and did not place last year. Why die on this hill? KOT and Levi are way past this dude.

I have never understood why people think Hamiti 165 and Hamiti 174 are the same two wrestlers. And it's not like we are far apart lol. We both agree he'd lose to either KOT or Levi. Our minor disagreement is by how much. So why die on that hill? ;)

Hamiti likely weighed 8-10lbs more than MM when they wrestled at B1Gs last year and still fell off a cliff. After 8+ hours of post weigh-in recovery. He was a LOT bigger than MM.

Both MM and Levi have grown into their weights; Levi looks 15lbs heavier and MM looks a lot thicker through the chest and back than he did last year. A lot more power there for each of them.

MM are two very different wrestlers. MM’s baseline defense isn’t great; he wins shootouts. Levi is the exact opposite. He’s a brick wall, feeding you hips and making a 5-1 match look like the beating of the century. I don’t see Hamiti taking him down, or holding him down on top.

Not sure i see Hamiti getting off the bottom against this version of Levi

Here's the B1G podium pic, showing Mesenbrink & Hamiti looking level, despite the 4(?) inch difference in podium height between 1st & 2nd.

That's more like 8" difference in levels. Also, Hamiti being closer to the camera makes him look taller. This picture tells us very little about the height difference unfortunately.

Hey, what gives? Only one guy is smiling!

The mind reader in me .... They must be thinking, the next three years are going to suck.
