I mean, c'mon... if you're reffing the match (and you know going in that Zain is the best wrestler in college) and you still allow his opponent to continually deliver blows to the side of his head?!? I guess maybe if you are reffing two guys you've never seen before but that was the most bush league thing i have seen in a long long time - the wrestling gods will guarantee they meet up in the Big 10s.

A point I noticed, Deluca and VanBrill, long for their weight, seemed to give ZPain a problem, couldn't turn him as easily Also, JN started out with a similar issue. There go-to moves were not working. Do you think it was related to their opponents length? Thanks for your insights!
Hoping JN comes back healthy whenever the team doctors allow him.

Zain just ran out of time on both bow and arrow attempts.

Also, the problem Zain had with DeLuca was repeated eye pokes.

Pure punk attitude. Rutgers has a ton of those guys on the team, including Lewis and, yes, even chip-on-his-shoulder Suriano. There is something in the water and air there beyond all the foul chemicals. As a famous film maker once put it, "I believe there's an intelligence to the universe, with the exception of certain parts of New Jersey."

I'm okay way kids wrestling with an attitude. Deluca though should have been DQed before the end of the 1st period. He landed 4 or 5 hay makers to the side of Zain's head in the 1st minute.

If the ref isn't going to handle it, our guys should force the issue, blow for blow. Jersey tough? GTF outta here. Try a broken down Western PA steel town or a dairy farm. Crack some ****ing heads. Make the ref do his job.

Because retaliation doesn't draw penalties in football and hockey?

No, the answer is how Zain dealt with Amine: "I'm just gonna pin him."

Good in theory, but nobody got pinned. They got in our guy's heads a little bit.

They did.
If Nolf had not been hurt today I would be thinking today was a great lesson.
They were in a thug fest, they had at best an incompetent for an official and they allowed the thugs to take them out of their game. Lessons were learned and my guess is come March most of the Goodale boys will be better off avoiding the PSU kids.
