Not that surprising given that the CFP are supposed to be the top 4 teams. Nice to land in that #5 spot though - for those of us who believe the athletic contest in Pasadena actually was a "game."

My uninformed opinion would be that some (many?) players place great meaning on the game - it certainly looked like that given what I saw on Monday.

Further, my opinion, having not talked to every single person like you did, would be that recruits might also place some meaning on seeing a program they are thinking of joining play in a classic venue like the Rose Bowl.

I suppose you must have run out of time to talk to all the media people who foolishly have PSU's record at 11-2. I'm sure in time you'll get around to it and have things corrected.

Not the smartest guy (well maybe here) and I'm one of the few who admita when he's wrong. The issue is the majority won't. Most here want to believe our lack of success is due to the Big Ten hating us, the refs cheating, other programs cheating, etc instead of dealing with the reality of our situation. It's sad and predictable.

exhibition games are "games." No one ever suggested otherwise. It's just has no objective purpose as it relates to athletic outcomes. This is why some players prioritize an attempt to shave .001 second off their 40 time vs playing in any of the post season exhibition games, but not a single one did for the post season games that have an objective purpose.
If you disagree, feel free to state the purpose of what the Rose Bowl meant to any objective outcome in college football this season. Not a single person making snarky comments like yours has offered anything other than insults.
