If I could sing, I'd do a cover of Bowie's "Let's Dance"

"..and if you say run, I'll run with you. And if you say hide, we'll hide" - Just a fantastic line.

The song was done in that weird Rock/Disco combo time. Not bad, but dated. I can hear this song redone in a different genre very nicely.

Here's a cover that totally changes the complexion of the song by M Ward, if you haven't heard it.

funny how Bowie was (and is) so far ahead of his time, a true artist of recorded and live music... but his pop dalliance with "Let's Dance" , even with the genius of SRV, is the most dated

I was just listening to his (mostly forgotten/overlooked) "Tin Machine" work the other day on YouTube and even at 25+ years old - the music and (especially) the lyrics are relevant and certified kick-ass (linkie)

Tin Machine / Under the God

"Under Pressure" with Freddie and Queen is in my top five

songs of all time.

I read an interview with Bowie in, I think, Playboy many years ago. They were interviewing him at his home with Iman. The interviewer said that they'd talk and all of a sudden Bowie would excuse himself and then come right back. After several times, and it seemed the reporter getting frustrated, he asked what was going on. Bowie brought a pad where he wrote down short thoughts and lines in a notebook. Bowie explained that when he thought of something he might use down the road, he wrote them down so he could reference them when crafting a song.

He was one of the best artist/performers of the time. I'd love to meet and talk to him.

thanks! very torchy

and bluesy. I'd like something with a little more energy, a celebration of a couple struggling against the machine, united against anything that may come. I love the guitar work.

IIRC Robin Williams did an impression of Elmer Fudd doing Lets Dance. Pretty funny.

I'm a big Bowie fan. Fashion is one of my all time favorite albums.
He was waaayyyy ahead of the curve both musically and visually and a pretty damn good actor as well.

the word "cool" in the dictionary has a section on David Bowie**

the guy is effin awesome... hope he's healthy as I've heard rampant rumors over the past 18mos

Can I dance? Can I dance; the man asks.

Let me put it this way, if they'd put me on Dancing With the Stars, I'd be dancing on dancing with the stars!
