I'm Really Convinced That PAC-12 Sucks......Let's Hope

Agreed! In fact, I don't think USC has played a team with as good a defense as ours (after darnold took over) since Wash. I mean look at the OSU vs Colo game.. really?! Utah vs Ind game.. really!? Yes USC has a good offense and they have a good QB but I think we have a good chance here. I just hope we don't let them get off to a good start like we did wisc. If we can keep it to 7-10 points in the first half, then we can do what we have been doing all season in the second half and beat them. Losing bowen could be a bummer but hope it's not that big of a problem.

The only thing concerning is that PSU seems to have first half struggles (not only this year) with qb's that throw short dink/dunk passes. It seems like it always takes a half to make appropriate adjustments. I agree, if it's close going (or we're leading) going into half time I like our chances a lot.

USC isn't the exception but that conference appears to be as weak as I've ever seen it.

I agree because I've seen nothing in these bowl games with Pac12 teams that makes me think otherwise.
Frankly I havent seen a Pac12 team that would be in the top4 of the B1G East and that includes an incredibly
over rated Colorado. Tell me again how he got coach of the year over Franklin.

Putting a lot of weight into Bowl Games is a huge mistake - IMO
Half the teams don't much care (certainly not enough to prepare - I am sure that most guys will make an effort for 60 minutes on game day, but that is a minimum level of effort).......staffs nowadays are spending most of the "bowl prep" time on other matters (recruiting etc) rather than game day prep......not to mention a lot of folks - players AND coaches - being more concerned about "where is my next job?" (Or NFL dreams) than about the game.......and the fact that some of the teams haven't played in 3-4 weeks

Anyway - cutting to the chase:
F the bowl games - for the most part (though the P12 has looked abysmal) - and see how these teams played in November (when the games were at their maximum importance)......

They sucked (aside from USC)

Most of the P12 games down the stretch looked like a quality level of a Memphis vs USF match up .....maybe

You are probably correct.
Way to bring me down. LOL.

Oh.....I agree with you (at least o think we are in agreement on this) that the P12 as a whole sucks eggs this year
I certainly feel that way. No way to prove it, but there is little doubt in my mind on that score

I do think USC is VERY much the exception to the rule
Quality wise, right now, I think they are a "top 5 in the country" level team (I don't think UW is top 10, maybe not top 15......FWIW)

PSU may have drawn the toughest matchup of ANYONE (aside from the aforementioned UW) in the country
Always tough to account for all of the oddball variables that raise their heads on a bowl game scenario........but I do think it is likely that PSU will compete very well - and I wouldn't short-change their chances of winning the Rose Bowl

You never know till you know - - but I think it's gonna be a heck of a game

Yea we are pretty much in agreement.

Top to bottom, Pac 12 is probably 5th best of the P5 conferences...which says something given how bad the Big XII is.

Having said this, I'm not sleeping on Washington against Bama (or USC for that matter because of their talent). Peterson is about as clutch as it gets in getting his teams ready to play on this type of game and they have an offense that can give Bama fits. I don't think they can stop Bama's offense but wouldn't surprise me if this is a high scoring game still in doubt late.

With Stanford and Oregon down, Wash, Utah, and Colo look better than they really are. USC is the best team at this point in the season but their toughest challenge was a Washington team that will be dismantled tomorrow by Bama.

I actually hope USC is a really really good team. PSU needs that kind of competition to get better not some overrated team that we roll over. That said, I think USC needs the same thing and we provide it for them. This is what college football is all about. Great or very good teams competing hard against each other. Too bad I think we're playing a better team than Alabama is playing in the playoff. I already know what kind of team Penn State is. USC better be ready.

One game matchups is never a good barometer in college football, but I couldn't help but notice USC's game against Colorado when they won by 4 pts (21-17). That was the 6th game of their season and Darnold was their QB. He had an good game (25-37) for 358 passing yards. Yet, they barely got by the Buffs.

And, the Buffs had 279 passing yards vs USC. I think we can do a little better than that.

Bullshit. These kids play their heart out. What the hell do you have that can prove me wrong?

I have PSU winning this in the trenches. They struggle with teams that play B10 type defense. We do, Stanford and Colorado do as well. 2 losses and a 5 point win. You are not cinderella, you are the real deal...
