Didn't see this picture of Cael embracing Anthony Cassar after his NCAA Championship win... but you know where Cael's heart is when one of his guys gets to that pinnacle they worked so tirelessly to get to. The look of gratitude on Cael's face... re-enforces the message of being thankful for the opportunity to get there... and then to reach that ultimate pinnacle in that wrestlers collegiate life. None happier than Cael. The respect and appreciation etched on every part of his face.

i think cael retiring from competition at an early age was huge on his coaching. as a competitor he said varner was the man. seems he cares for those athletes more than just being athletes. now he is coaching all those fellas that will be champions, even beyond college and wrestling. no doubt he has been good for for wrestling.

How long before someone throws Cael after a championship?
Have you ever seen Cael thrown in his lifetime?

I much prefer the personable celebration Cael has with his wrestlers.

There's also a better way of celebrating as we've seen with Cael and his wrestlers than the infrequent and zany celebrations done at other institutions of the weird and unpredictable.

BTW, no dig intended here towards Cael. He was a sophomore in college and Gutches was already a World champion. This was a really awesome match. I was standing on the far side of the mat and saw this live.

I am a huge Cael fan and there is no doubt he loves his wrestlers.

A collage like the one above can be made of virtually every coach in every sport

Exactly, Fan. Cael puts his pants on just like the rest of the coaches — one leg at a time. Except, once his pants are on, his wrestlers earn gold medals. [ the group laughs ] Alright, here we go. “Fear… Don’t Fear the Reaper” — take one. Roll it.

There are times I feel even we, as Penn State fans/alumni, don't realize that we are pretty much in the presence of greatness when it comes Cael Sanderson and wrestling. The guy has pretty much owned the wrestling mate from the very day he stepped foot on one in every facet (wrestler/coach). He is simply the best. Literally... no one compares to him and he's ours!
