1) their D is a bit improved (at least they seemed that way until the last 2 weeks).. but they seem to have dropped off a bit from their start.. they gave up 517 to MD, MD gave up 600+.. classic Indiana Football. They sacked Perry Ellis 4x .. surprised he didn't try and wrestle them afterwords.. Hills will go down as one of the worst QB's in MD history.. that's saying somethin!! Unfortunately he did not run head first into a LB and knock himself out this game.. making it far less entertaining than it otherwise could have been. Defense.. got used by Maryland, the only thing that stopped Maryland was that clumbsy candy armed Pittsburgh Perry missing wide open WR's all day long with his stellar 50 QBR.
2) their Base OFF is bad, their QB is not as good as the kid we played at Purdue. Vs. Maryland they were struggling a bit and went to wildcat 35+% of the time. In the the cat they have this fat dude (Tyler Nattee 6'1" 260 lb RB) about the size of a young Jerome Bettis take the snap, and at times they line him up with Diamont in the backfield--this way they can rotate back and either can take the snap. On Diamont's first big play he got a personal foul for taunting (this kid is a total tool). Diamont will sometimes throw.. this is generally more beneficial to the opposition than it is to IU. Not sure how effective a wildcat running game vs. PSU would be as none of their RB options are on the level that the Maryland kids were.
IU did their best to piss the game away late.. but when you playing a bunch of Chuck E Chees Clowns (ie Maryland) that is pretty hard to do.. thus they prevailed in the "we hope we can make a bowl game" bowl.
