One more and perhaps the biggest obstacle between DT Tyrell Chavis and his enrollment at Penn State is set to be cleared.
I've been working to track this down over the past couple days, but I'm able to confirm tonight that Chavis is scheduled to officially graduate from Nassau Community College in Garden City, N.Y., this Sunday. He'll finish junior college with his associate degree and he tells me that he continues to be on pace to start classes at PSU next month.
Nassau DL coach Antonio Anderson first informed me of the news this evening, telling me that Chavis finished the spring semester with a B-average or better in four courses. When I double-checked with Chavis, he said he doesn't know his exact grade-point average yet, but he expects it be around a 2.5.
He won't be walking as part of Nassau's graduation ceremonies Sunday since he's already returned to his home in Virginia. That's where he'll stay until he arrives at University Park the weekend of June 25.
