Article and trailer for the HBO piece of fiction on the Penn State fiasco timed for the 7th anniversary of Sara Ganim's article that broke the story open.

The article includes an interview with director Barry Levinson. I don't believe this movie will go down as one of Levinson's best pieces of work.

SI: You’re a sports fan. Did making the movie lead you to any new thoughts about whether big-time sports and universities can coexist?

BL: There’s a lot at stake for these universities because college football generates so much money, and obviously that element has gotta impact on this situation. The administration, whether consciously or unconsciously, they knew a lot of this information and they looked to cover it up, because it represented a danger to the university on a bunch of levels. That’s what happens. A university is about students, when it’s all said and done. Period. It’s about education. That’s why they were built—they were built to educate. But with this amount of money involved, you can start to see how this happens. How do we cover this up? Maybe it will go away. You see these mechanics play out, as we show it.

BL: One of the points of the movie is, Look what happens when a voice is not heard. When the first victim stepped forward, if the authorities would have paid attention and done the necessary investigation, then nothing else would have happened beyond it. But it was ignored, and it becomes this scandal. The reason things are happening now is that so many people have been ignored for so long that it explodes.

I could have sworn the first victim to come forward was interviewed by the police and child services, and determined charges were not warranted. Is that what ignored means? Now questioning the job child services did would be appropriate, but that question was never asked and obviously will not even be mentioned in this mockumentary.

Key issue on this entire matter - both Penn State and Sandusky - The "Story" that the OAG engineered about the "Monster Child Molester" hidden by PSU Football requires the following in order to be credible -
(1) You may not look at ANY information about any charges, accuser, legal processes involved UNLESS THEY ORIGINATE WITHIN the OAG "Story".
(2) Anyone who questions ANYTHING at any level which indicates anything other than what is contained in the OAG "Story" is a pedophile.
(3) The Freeh Report is the Gospel of Proof on Penn State's "Criminal Football Culture" led by Joe "He MUST have known" Paterno. Paterno's main objective for 61 years had been to win football games at all costs This scandal just reinforces a previously publicly hidden "fact" about Paterno - he was fundamentally evil and only cared about his winning football - nothing else in life mattered to him..
(4) Freeh's comments in his "Report" summary stated DIRECTLY that there was evidence proving there was CONTINUOUS activities by top executives at PSU, protecting Sandusky. This statement was provided to public as FACTUAL and that the "corrupt Joe Paterno and his "lackey executives" continuously"Covered-up" Sandusky's decades of MULTIPLE crimes committed at Penn State.
(5) All of the legal trials - Sandusky, C/S/S (and "should have been" Paterno) - conducted in the State of PA had no evidence of collusion, prosecution misconduct, tampering/influencing accusers statements or bizarre defense actions taken by each defense lawyer representing any PSU person. IGNORE the fact that NOT ONE PSU accused PERSON "took the stand" in their defense" (Possible answer??? - Check into J Edgar Hoover methods to control a situation using the power of police to "dig up dirt" on anyone J Edgar targeted)
(6) Forget about investigating TSM or anyone at TSM - Allow TSM to destroy all TSM records within days of Sandusky charges is a standard police process!!! QUESTION....Why??? Those decades of records on TSM activities could not be as "meaningful" to legal processes as PSU records from 10 years ago. TSM could not have known anything about Sandusky - an employee who must have generated some paper trail as to his activities. I suspect that this "avoid TSM like the plague" just shows the power of $650K!!!

For the "Story" that the public still believes and the "Story" on which this movie about PATERNO will promote - you MINIMALLY need to accept all 6 of the above "Story" requirements.

And providing the public with a Movie version of the "Story" based upon facts....Rarely are Facts part of two similar kinds of "Story"- Fairy Tales and the Paterno - Fall from Grace Movie (A/K/A The OAG "Penn State Scandal").
