BB Recruiting Penn State Basketball lands No. 39 overall recruit in 2025 G Kayden Mingo

Don’t get so enthusiastic.
yeah. Every recruit has question marks and there are no guarantees. But the basketball program landing such a highly recruited kid, if he pans out or not, is a huge brand win for the coach. I am 100% certain this kid wants to play in the NBA. He looks at PSU as a path to the NBA. Recent NBA success by PSU players has paid dividends. This is why it takes years to build a program. It doesn't happen overnight.

And nothing would be better than this kid playing a year, killing it, and going to the NBA. Others are watching.

He is only listed at 6'1".

How huge do you think he will get?

In all seriousness, welcome aboard Kayden.

He is listed as a 'combo guard' indicating that he has the ability to score and create for himself as well as setup his teammates.

A highly rated player with the above skillset is a valuable commodity for any program - especially ours!

I know you are joking but for others, it is worth pointing out that Steph Curry is 6'2" as is Kyrie Irving. I am not saying he's the next Steph or Kyrie but a good point guard who can shoot threes is more valuable than anyone on the court in today's game.

It’s amazing what happens when resources are allocated to making the basketball program a winner. Finally. Highest ranked recruit in program history.

Thank you, Pat Kraft.

Should be the highest rated recruit, not named Tony Carr, to ever commit to Penn State.

You can also point back to when crispin was draining 3's over just about e1.

...and there are days when the 3's don't fall.

I was having this discussion with a friend a few months ago. It took several decades for the NBA to fully adjust to the 3 point line. The first time I saw a team totally committed to the 3 was when Stan Van Gundy built the Orlando Magic around a bunch of three point shooters and surprised the NBA with a very competitive team. Steve Kerr, who's only game was 3s, fully understood the power of it. He gathered a bunch of 3 point shoots, got a great power forward and some journeymen Bigs and dominated the league for several years.
