FRL running back 2010 and talking about emergence of Robles got me thinking.

How does Lee attack Robles when it would be very hard to get his wrist and keep it? Just keep it to takedowns?

Robles taking top and grabbing Lee’s wrist would be interesting

The term "heavy hands" just doesn't cut it when it comes to Robles. Iron hands maybe?

Robles had the 'advantage' of having the upper body of a 149lb wrestler. Yes, having only one leg is a disability, but the rest of his body against 125lb wrestlers was a mismatch.

Robles' real advantage was that there was absolutely no way to practice against him.

Lee could adjust to the strength difference by training with Lugo and Young. But nobody else coils and strikes like a snake. And many scrambling techniques aren't available -- there's no ankle to pass, for example.

It would be a fascinating matchup. Robles' style in neutral takes away many of Lee's attacks. But Lee is smart enough to figure out that you can't just stand in front of Robles, you have to move laterally and create angles. Robles' weakness was bottom, which is Lee's strength. But if the 3rd period isn't Lee's friend, Robles is the worst possible opponent. I'd imagine both guys taking top. It might come down to who has choice first -- the guy stuck on bottom in the 2nd might not be able to recover in the 3rd.

I have always agreed with the size advantage discussion for Robles. But....let’s not get crazy here. Anthony lost 25 matches before his senior year when he won everything. He was Not AA, 4th, 7th and 1st.

Lee is all world all the time.
Except when he faces seabass

He looked like a 165lber his senior year. It was nuts watching him wrestle 125lb guys.

I must say that McDonough did not have a good strategy vs Robles.
But thats maybe because Matt was a grinder, a guy that shot in and grinded his way too takedowns. Im no expert on wrestling a freakishly strong wrestler with 1 leg, nobody is, but I'd assume you should use more footwork, move around make Robles uncomfortable. I cant find videos of his losses at Nationals Jr. Year. But I remember Andrew Long executed in that match. If Lee did things right he may be able too do same thing in a mythical time machine match.
But Robles was a different animal his Sr year I dont recall him being close too losing

There is one way. Wrestle Robles in tournaments. Just stalk him all year. Brands would surely know to do this after McDonough’s bad first-time experience.

The other possible way would be more iffy. Lee could contact Robles and ask to work out together. Robles should probably say no, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Different warriors have different codes. You never know how a guy might reply.

Even the tourney idea isn't a lock -- Robles could withdraw or MFF out before they meet.

Are you really a Seabass fan, or is this a joke? Would you choose Seabass in a FS match?I think Spencer would roll him up in the first minute.
Lee was 2-2 against Seebass and was robbed at Big 10's for their last match. Lee was the better wrestler at Big 10's and he kept progressing as he got healthier. I wish they had met at the NCAA Tournament, but Seebass got hammered by the guy Lee beat 5-0 in the finals in Folk, but in Freestyle, it would be a little tougher than a bye.

As long as we're breaking out the time machine. I'd like to see Lee vs Bonomo and Lee vs Cuvo.

Bonomo with the strength factor. He was man vs boy against Jimmy Martin [and many others]. Pretty sure Bonomo was cutting a ton of weight back then.
Cuvo with the endless gas tank and td machine. Dude used to go straight from getting his hand raised to sprinting laps around the arena. I suppose Cuvo could get stuck under Lee and be neutralized. But if he could keep it close into the 3rd?
