The Team Blue seems to have (almost) all of the upperclassmen expected on the 3 deep. Note, only the FR QBs are on the white team. All 8 scholarship WRs are on the blue team. We
One position of interest:
The blue team has Dixon at LB, indicating he is on the 2 deep?
The white team has Brandon Smith and Katshir as the only scholarship LBs. Interestesting, as I have not heard a whole lot about Dixon short of the usual. He is the only true FR on the blue team to my untrained eye. If I had to pick one true FR player I thought may be on the blue team, it would have been Ellis.

You are reading wayyyyyy too far into it.

Fair enough. But he is the only outlier. Of course, maybe some of the other guys have been dinged up. In reality, at his position the only other player in contention for the 2 deep is on the white squad in Katshir. I was just hoping to hear he is tearing it up, as this untit could use a significant uptake in play this year.
I was surpirsed to see all 8 scholly WRs on one team. May make for some tough sledding for Holmes and Cain at RB, with little threat at WR and 2nd/3rd string OL.

Dude, it’s a practice. There is nothing to read into.

It appears Dixon has passed Katshir

Good to see Hansard's name in there. Spencer didn't even mention his name recently when talking about the DL. That big body we need at DT. Anyone know the status of Jordan?

Last heard from, Jordan “accidentally” posted to his twitter account messages complaining about the coaches being on him for not hustling when he claimed he was still injured. He was immediately shut down for the season. Don’t know when he’ll be fully healed and ready to play.

Well, except for above link. I apologize fo a FB related post. Please ignore and go back to the household appliance and lawn care threads.
Oh yeah, and it looks like all the 1st and 2nd string guys (and in a few cases 3rd string guys) are all on the blue squad. I know it's only spring and lots can change, but it is what we have right now.

That's the last I heard from him also. Thanks. Hope he gets back since he has that low center of gravity (6 ft. 305) and makes a good push. Had a pretty good game against Pitt.

Because Sean Fitz predicted it?? That's all that depth chart is - a prediction by Sean Fitz.

Don't expect to find out any real depth chart player positions until CJF makes a direct comment or until the first depth chart is issued in the Fall.

If there is one thing I hate on a football message board, it is a prediction on anything football related, especially by someone who has seen asome of the practices. Makes you wonder why anyone in their right mind would go to this practice.

The “official” depth chart released during the season is hogwash.

Sean Fritz has seen about as much meaningful practice as you have. CJF only opens practice to reporters for 10 or 15 minutes on one day per week and shows NOTHING in those open periods.

Maybe you believe in crystal balls and Sean has one.

Last year CJF made comments at the end of Spring practice that Taylor had made a move and was leading for the starting Safety spot out of Spring practice. Short of a comment by CJF on the 2 deep LB spot, there is no reason at this time to believe Dixon is ahead of Katshir.

Where did both guys play yesterday? Did they play for both sides? Who got more snaps? How did they do statistically? Certainly that would be somewhat of an indicator of where they finished spring ball.

As CJF has said over and over, player development and evaluations more so are a result of the practice time during the previous Spring practices than from the "game" yesterday. And obviously it is the analysis that CJF will do, evaluating the tape of each drill, play, and activity of the Spring practices, that will help him and his staff determine their depth chart going into Fall practice.

Injuries are guarded secrets. But we all know that Simmons did not do much this Spring. Does that mean that every other DE is now ahead of Simmons on the depth chart. Obviously not. We don't know who was nicked yesterday either. If Dixon played the most snaps yesterday, does that bring him to the top of the depth chart? Obviously not. So any analysis would be incomplete and in error.

I would have to say the division of the teams was revealing. All one has to do is look at how they were divided up. Could that change by the fall, certainly. And it certainly will at some positions. My original post was simply to point out that Dixon apparently has been impressing. Had not heard much about him. If you don't want to believe that, all good. Someone needs help in the lawnmower thread.

I didn't see the game. I think my Hulu is cut back until football season. Simmons spent most of last year hurt as well. He did go from a projected starter by most to a primary #2 guy even once he returned.

It's not incomplete to analyze the snaps and how certain players did. Somebody here had a grading system on Koa Farmer once documenting whether the play came his way, he ran himself out of it, made the tackle, etc. It was very eye opening.
