If you haven't visited this linked board, you should. Lots of good discussion, no patience for trolls, and very respectful of other programs (e.g. No use of "Pedstate" or "Bael" that I've seen - in stark contrast to the trash "fanofminny" posts on the Guillotine, for example). Kudos to the mod whoever he is.

Anyway, this linked thread has quite a post from Mark Martin's father.

Hoo boy! Man, that Tom Ryan, if he can't win over the parents of his own wrestlers...

Great find, CT!

That's just brutal

All in all, that board is really good. You've got to feel for a lot of the Buckeye fans on there who know this is a great chance for them, but have been dealing with a string of setbacks and key injuries all year long. A healthy Hunter S and they romp in my opinion - it has got to be frustrating.

That board has 3 or 4 parents who post. I think that's a recipe for disaster.

Speaking of trolls, what's the deal with Olbermann and PSU? Some dude from PSU lay waste to his girlfriend or something? Dude hates you all.

Interesting read; thanks for sharing. Pretty high maturity level on that board, nice to see that can actually happen on the internet.

I gotta agree about parents of team members posting though; probably not a good idea on a consistent basis. And that one particular post by one parent (who I shall not name) blasting the OSU staff - whoa.

Don't know what his problem with PSU is, but he'll do most anything (even embarrass himself) for publicity. But I like to think that most PSU folks are above his hate and venom. For one, I'm moving on.

Re: That's just brutal

We have one parent who posts on FOS, though very infrequently and not in a long time. He's generally pretty upbeat. His few slams are at the haters on that board, on point, and completely warranted.

The wife of a PSU wrestler has also posted on FOS less than a half-dozen times. Mostly it's just to point out something awesome the guys are doing behind the scenes (off the mat) that they're too modest to publicize themselves.

But, yeah, plenty of potential for things to go awry.

What makes Ohio Wrestling dot Net work is you must register with your real name. No hiding behind screen names. I laughed at the "Kudos to the mod whoever he is" remark. For the last 2 or 3 years there has been no moderator. Heck, new people couldn't even sign up. Finally one of our members tracked down the owner/creator to get permission to add new members. The membership is made up of mostly coaches, officials, media, ex college wrestlers and a few parents. Great post from past Buckeyes Mitch Clark, Tommy Rowlands, and Rex Holman.

agreed if these anonymous boards weren't so anonymous the vitriol would be much less frequent.

We have lost several good posters on here and FOS because once their "names" were outed they stopped posting or post much less. Its a shame but on the other hand you might have all the info that comes out if it wasn't anonymous.

but that was a good thread and I will be back there. Thanks CMT

I'm all for using your real name, tired of using Mikey T as a alias. I'll be the first to come out "John Smith" and I'll post a picture of me so when you see me at Nationals "say it to my face"!

Chief,

I posted this link on the Hawkeye board sometime ago http://onwardstate.com/2015/01/20/an-open-letter-to-keith-olbermann// .

It is writen by Keith Horne and and dispells Olbermann's vitrial comments against PSU reguarding the sanctions and backlash of the Sandusky scandal. What is great about the article is that he includes links to information that counters the allegations and inuendos.

Since you brought this up I am wondering if you may have read it. So many are set in their opinions and would not consider or look further than their TVs and radio. If you have not read this please do and I would love to hear what you have to say after reading it.

I agree u would see a lot less trash on message boards if u were required to use your real name. Unfortunately, I also think you would see a lot less discussion overall as well.

As a MN fan I cringe when other MN fans (or other teams fans, just hold my team fans to a higher standard) resort to childish name calling, esp in reference to the Sandusky situation. I am all for taking a jab or two but keep it civil.

well put and I admire you for time to articulate this response. Let us hope it can sink in.

Very good opinion piece. IMO, Olbermann has always been a douche both in the sports and political worlds. This is just one more example of his irresponsible behavior. Olbermann likes to hold his elite Cornell degree over the masses (even went grammar nazi on PSU folks) but from what I know, he attended the state-school side of it.

Just look at the source though...If you disagree with his political theories, then you are labeled a racist, elitist, classist, sexist etc. Its what he does for a living and he was not very good at it. For God's sake, he was fired from MSNBC because of a lack of "journalistic integrity"...a very high bar to hurdle over there.

I know some of you are just plain exhausted on this topic and tired of having to defend your school from the "ped state" crowd. It's like pissing in the wind.
