Actually not that bad for kids from 1 district. Some real close matches that could have gone our way.

...I wonder how many high schools there are with wrestling programs in the whole state of IOWA vs the WPIAL...?
... might be surprisingly close...

According to the High School participation numbers, Iowa has 280 or so High Schools that have boys wrestling. PA has 493 or so total...don't know how many are WPIAL Schools.

I believe there are 138 high schools in Dist. 7 (WPIAL), which qualifies the above a bit. However, I do not know how many of those have a wrestling team.

Iowa is a really good wrestling state. The WPIAL can beat up on the Georgia's of the wrestling world.

Yeah. The WPIAL wins more often than not in the Dapper Dan, but they weren't wrestling the likes of a Georgia, etc. team this year. I mean, it's great that a kid can win multiple state titles in Georgia or some other state but the reality is that a kid from the WPIAL that has never won a PIAA state title is more often than not better than a multiple time state champ for most states.

Iowa, not so much. Those Iowa state champs are legit.

Well said. Great experience for the WPIAL kids, as a benchmark against better talent. Pretty cool bringing in the Iowa Team...
