Heartbreaking for certain. One year from arrest to execution. Even with all of the International attention, Iran still does the wrong thing. Rest in peace young man
Let's see them do something concrete, such as ban Iran from Worlds or the Olympics.
Yeah, I thought it was a pretty toothless response. Then again, twitter isn’t known for thorough review of facts. It’s definitely what they do that matters.Let's see them do something concrete, such as ban Iran from Worlds or the Olympics.
Otherwise, words.
So the US is almost as bad as Iowa?Lots of uproar and selective grandstanding because it involves a wrestler and it is in Iran.
The U.S. executes the 7th most people in the world, and it has historically been disproportionately directed against blacks and people of color and, until fairly recently, even used against juveniles and the mentally challenged. There have also been quite a few cases where state governments have executed innocent people—studies show it is roughly about 1 in 25 (144 people since 1973).
Furthermore, we confine thousands in solitary confinement, which is unquestionably a form of torture—"cruel and unusual punishment" which violates the Constitution.
While one can condemn what goes on elsewhere, focusing on what happens in one's own backyard is arguably where energy should be spent if you live in the US. If you are unfamiliar with the horrors of solitary confinement, I recommend this TED talk:
You really want to open the door to politics and truth on here??
Still funnySo the US is almost as bad as Iowa?
Yet, they don't leave. Some people just can’t believe it can be more awful anywhere than the US.

Thank you Hotshoe. When I started this thread I naively did not anticipate some of the responses it would generate. My apologies for providing a platform for some of those messages. May God bless all those in Iran who have to live under this state of terror, and my prayer is that freedom would come to them all. It's cleaned up. It's an interesting situation because Iran cannot be trusted and who knows what actually took place.
No problem. Hell, I was wondering if anyone actually knew the whole story. Didn't think it would turn into that.Thank you Hotshoe. From your posting history, you are anything but naive. Imo, no need to apologize. What happened is on others, that took it in that direction, not you.Thank you Hotshoe. ...and as far as the story, it is sad. Grateful and thankful every day to live in this great country.
Thank you, moderators. I’m so glad you don’t let this forum turn into HR!It's cleaned up. It's an interesting situation because Iran cannot be trusted and who knows what actually took place.
This is grotesque action from a grotesque regime. I feel so sorry for the citizens of Iran, that they are forced to live under these conditions. And sadly, any sanctions would hurt the good people of Iran disproportionately. What a horror story.WTF? Outrageous and sickening!

Man....that is too low. It was just above the knee.If Iran were truly safer than Iowa, then they'd shoot him in the knee at 3 am.
