Is it worth selling your soul to get a 5-star recruit?

There have been some posters on BWI who have stated that they weren't interested in ethics, or graduation rates, or violating recruiting rules, or "Success With Honor", and that they didn't care HOW PSU got some highly rated high school players...just GET them!! Well Laremy Tunsil was a 5-star recruit in 2013, and Cam Newton was a 5-star in 2007. Reggie Bush was a 5-star RB. All three obviously were bought and paid for by their respective schools, with Newton taking it to another level when he and his father negotiated deals with TWO colleges, Florida AND Auburn.

So I was wondering, after last night's debacle at the draft involving Tunsil, is this the kind of kid you want wearing a PSU uniform? Do you want alums to pay $400,000 for a 5-star QB, or buy a great RB's family a house, or pay an OT's family's utility bills in a pre-arranged agreement? OK so the initial responses will be "Well not ALL 5-star kids are like these three" and that's true. But I'm referring to the posters who specifically stated that they didn't care HOW PSU did it..just go out and GET those top players. Also take this into consideration: in PLENTY of cases those 5-star kids that PSU would like to get are being wooed by $EC teams and schools like O$U who have a well-documented history of paying for a top recruit. PSU has never been even vaguely accused of such practices, and they have to compete with those schools who have no ethics whatsoever.

This isn't an "excuse" for PSU not getting top talent. It's just posing a question to those who think that ethics and "success with honor" really isn't important, and that winning is THE only thing as Lombardi suggested. Does anyone on here REALLY believe that getting a Tunsil or Bush or Newton by PAYING them is ok? Where would or should PSU draw the line as far as getting involved in slimy, sleazy tactics just for the sake of recruiting a few top players?
