Is Joe Buck on the Cubs payroll?

Actually started broadcasting for the Cardinals organization. Big surprise there.

Exactly. He's a cardinal fan and St Louis resident. He had to write an article before the World Series practically apologizing to Cardinal fans for saying he was looking forward to calling a WS game at Wrigley.

He's anything but a Cubs fan, he's just a sh*t baseball announcer.

Boy he gets giddy when the Cubs do something good. In contrast he sounded like the saddest man in the world when the Phillies had their run. He really annoys me.

He's got a hot wife!

Why limit it to baseball?

Why limit it to baseball?

He doesn't bother me for football. He's just so out of place in baseball. Most team radio guys and practically all of the TV guys would be an upgrade.

Thing I remember about Buck the most when the Phillies won the WS in '08 is this: When they suspended game 5, if you recall they didn't finish it until two days later due to all the rain. They had a whole day off in-between. I forget who interviewed McCarver and Buck the morning of the resumption of game 5 but it was a national broadcast, perhaps ESPN's morning Sportscenter but I don't recall exactly. I don't remember if it was a phone call or a live shot either, there may be video of it. They had McCarver and Buck on a live interview together from a hotel, or maybe in the ballpark but the question was asked what they did to kill time on that Tuesday.

Buck had a tone of dread and defeat in his voice throughout the whole interview like staying another day in Philly was his worst nightmare realized. McCarver said he met some friends and they all went out Tuesday night and had a nice dinner. Buck, sounding as though he had just found a strange hair in his food said something akin to "I stayed in my hotel room and stared at the wall." He actually said these words or something very close. Taken in the context of his hum-drum descriptions of everything to do with the actual games, and his underwhelming reaction to the eventual winner, I think it's reasonable to conclude he hates Philadelphia.

I wish I knew where there was video or audio of that interview. I remember the basics of the conversation. I recall thinking "What is this guy's problem?" Even if you hated a particular city you are supposed to be a professional broadcaster. That whole deal rubbed me the wrong way about the guy. Buck just came off as a weird dude.

Maybe its a Theo thing.
I always got the idea he hated the Yankees.
I tend to ignore the play-by-play guy. I really like Smoltz. He knows the game and has great insights.

OMG...Radji Davis !!!!!
