What was the psu Iowa score?
Iowa and MSU do a good job of muddying games up and being able to hang with teams. Once conference play starts it’s a different beast.
Yes ND is better than us. We gifted them 21 points but have had zero turnovers in our last 2. MSUs young players weren’t quite ready for a prime time game vs ND.
Michigan State played well yesterday, and the mistakes - both physical and mental (and a couple zebra WTHs) - seemed to even things out a bit. As someone else said, the rain neutralized an important segment of the game, but fortunately did not last all that long relatively. The timing of the dropped pass by Michigan was the most glaring physical mistake, and no one should count on such a mistake happening again.
As of now, MSU will likely be favored in their games before going into their two-game stretch in early November of PSU on the 4th and at Ohio State on the 11th.
The Penn State game comes at a great time for MSU. Regardless of outcome of those two games for PSU, the time is ripe for a bit of a mental letdown for us, following Michigan and Ohio State - two huge mentally and physically taxing games for us. Our confidence will be high for Michigan, and if we win that one, we will be even more mentally ready for Ohio State.
Upsets happen each week in college ball. Going unbeaten is an almost unrealistic expectation.
And then, whoever wins the East.... Wisconsin may be the most overlooked B1G team of all, and that plays heavily in their favor, especially assuming they make the title game (and when
don't they make the B1G title game, it seems?!). Arguably their two toughest opponents remaining are Iowa and Michigan, back-to-back in mid Nov., both at home. Then again, upsets happen all the time. But an unbeaten and maybe underdog Wisconsin in the B1G title game, and their mindset after last year's loss.... beating them in that game will take an excellent game by an excellent team, because that is what they will bring. Just like last year.
