We had too many holes to patch up this year- on defense especially with 9 new starters. Defense did great things most of game and then fell apart in last 8 minutes. We are getting close- tackling well for 3 quarters isn’t enough.
Trace was a warrior- the whiteout crowd was relentless. We need a better FG kicking game in these elite games. We need to run the ball better to close out games.
Coaches need to take care of little things- besides the 2 headscratcing calls on 4th and one and 4th and 5. Run the clock down on offensive series at end with double digit leads.
Franklin’s already fixed the big things— talent level close to the elite and will be in next few seasons— now we are going to lock in on the few extra things to go from top 10 to top 4 consistently— it’s pretty much same teams each yr and it takes a special coach to get there.
Franklin knows he messed up 5 percent when he did 95 percent right by working hard 24/7, 365 days a yr. I’m all in with his vision and from what I could see of recruits waving their sweatshirts wildly and leading crowd to get even crazier, more help is on the way. Hundred other college teams would love to have our place.
Trace is a warrior and deserves to win Rest of games and go to Heisman show— each team and coach needs to look in mirror and see if they have his mentality. So do the fans!

It's the Supreme Court's fault for creating all those laws for the kids!!

Agree wth pretty much everything. This team has progressed by leaps and bounds under Franklin, while largely maintaining “success with honor”. —- Couple of things: A young defense played its best game of the year, and virtually outplayed a very talented and more mature offense for 3 1/2 quarters ; Hamler’s injury changed our offense, and subsequently their defense . He is the only threat we possess who is faster than the OSU secondary. With the absence of Johnson stepping up ( our only real remaining mismatch ) , our receivers were easily covered ; Trace made an uncharacteristic poor decision when he threw the ball downfield ( beyond the LOS), instead of running for 3,5 or 10 more yards that looked to be available on that play. Clearly, he was looking for the “big” play. He is the best decision maker we have had in decades..... maybe ever, so he gets a pass ( pun intended); fumble by Miles allowed them to breathe some life back into their dying hopes. The Kid is a warrior, it was just an ill-timed mental lapse. Unfortunate; The final play by Penn State speaks for itself. Even 108,000 neophytes could have swerved into a better call....by accident. The thought process that led them to that decision needs to be identified and flushed. The rest of the game calling was solid to extremely solid. ——This team is on the precipice of greatness ( elite, per Franklin). And that’s with 29 freshmen and RS freshmen sprinkled in and out of the line up. We should have won. We will get better. The future is bright.
