Not amazing at all but quite expected.

Teams begin every year with new players, new schemes, strengths and weaknesses. Lots of questions.

Everyone watches the first game looking for answers to those questions. Especially in years in which we start with a decent opener like WVU, Purdue, or others.

Admittedly, making season long prognostications based on the opener are beyond reason. Teams change drastically as a season progresses, especially after the first game. But that’s human nature at it finest.
