It seems the White Out may be turning up the heat on Saban?

Saban rips student attendance at last week's game
Nick Saban calls out Alabama students for not showing up to their last game vs Louisiana Lafayette.
Alabama coach Nick Saban has seen the empty seats around Bryant-Denny Stadium, and he doesn't like it.

You have to love Saban for his work ethic. He strives for perfection in all football related areas. He looks up and sees a half empty student section and since it’s football related, he wants it fixed. Thank heaven we have a guy just like him in that regard.

Quit playing cupcakes....also, quit beating everyone by 100 and maybe more would show up. I’m just kidding, but it would kind of get boring as a fan to go into every game knowing you’re going to win. Then bring in a cupcake to play and I wouldn’t be too worried if I had something else to do.

What's that got to do with the white-out?
We had 100+ recruits at the white out on Saturday night, much of them with offers from Alabama. It was linked here and elsewhere how impressed they all were. Meanwhile, Alabama fans don't even cheer their players anymore when they are introduced according to Saban. Do you think it's a coincidence that he came out with this a few days after we broke an attendance record and everyone was talking about the white out? If you can't see the white out is also a great recruiting tool that's on you.

I thought only Sandy schedules cupcakes. Hmm...
Since Bama played the home and home with yours truly, the best non-conference game the Tide have hosted in Tuscaloosa has been Colorado State.

I have to remind myself sometimes, it took 4/5 seasons of losing to generate the type of enthusiasm we have now. My Freshman year at State was 2005, we all know the Whiteout started to change the atmosphere in 2004, but it wasn't until 2005 that we started getting noticed. If I was an Alabama student, I'd be bored with the cupcakes as well.

Alabama fatigue is spreading nationwide and now it is even affecting their own generation of current students (and future alums). I have no animosity or dislike of Alabama, but it is getting boring with their "perfection". Combining their talent level and then playing games against Arkansas State, LA-Lafayette, and the huge November 17 match up against the Citadel - that's why you get half-empty student sections.

Of course, Alabama has participated in the opening game of the year against "quality" opponent, but it is always at a "neutral" site (meaning 150 miles away from Tuscaloosa). Even that level of opponent has been diminishing - Louisville this year was never going to be any good and Alabama plays Duke next year. Yawn.

Of course the SEC is going to hold on tight to their 8 conference game schedule with a couple of FCS schools in the non-conference. Can't blame them - that guarantees at least 1 or 2 teams in the CFP. Why would they change anything?

Well, from the article, one of the Aabama players posted how nice it would be to play in front of PSU fans at a White Out (paraphrasing). So there is that.

The kid obviously didn't realize the difference in competition. PSU was playing OSU in one of the 2 or 3 major BIG games of the year. Alabama was playing their usual cupcake - huge difference.

11 AM CT kickoff in Alabama in September against Louisiana-Lafayette ......... that's not the easiest sell.

Alabama’s OOC schedule is garbage. Garbage in, garbage out. That’s your problem, Nick. You constantly scheduled cupcakes you blow away and it gets boring. Most of the students would probably rather sleep than sit on their butts watching a snooze fest of a game.

He's a miserable looking person.
