It's time for a Come-to-Jesus Moment with D. A. Seth Williams

Helen Ubinas is absolutely correct. It's past time for Seth to fire Frank Fina.

"Come to Jesus"? HAHAHA. Jesus has been checking his watch and his calendar since this first broke, saying, "how long is Seth gonna wait?" Everyone knows these fools gotta go.

Lots of people ARE speculating in terms of "what does FF have on Seth?" But that presumes Seth's instinct for self preservation is a more powerful force in his life than his ego, because firing them means Seth has to say, completely and unequivocally "I was dead wrong and it is not like people did not tell me to my face many times in public that I was wrong,. I just refused to admit it."

THAT is the hardest decision of all for Seth. He would rather DIE than admit he has ever been wrong. At least in the moment, he will always choose a distant jail or death over humility.

Seth's sense of his own genius is greater than any other force in his life. It is a form of insecurity. And, it causes a sort of blindness. We are all like that to some degree.

He sent some tweets about the BoT in 2011-12 that were looking pretty raggedy as the story continued to unfold. When he was running for PSU BoT he tried to explain them away by saying that he was trying to express a complex idea in 140 characters. "Someone" pointed out to him that as the DA of a major American city he needed to understand that some ideas are too complex to express in a tweet.

But he was a Golden Boy for a lot of folks in Philly, and he is a bright pol who until recently had a bright future. Someone will soon, if they have not already, lay out for him how this episode has damaged and IS damaging that future. At that point , FF is gonna be out of a job. If Rendell is saying it publicly you KNOW he has told him privately. Anyone from his side of the aisle who is publicly blasting him no doubt already told him privately and got no response.

The problem is that from the beginning, everybody involved in this (Surma, Frazier, Corbett et al, and now Fina, Williams, etc) all act as though THEY are Jesus. From day one, every main actor has thought they were bulletproof, and acted as thus.

And you know, if they had left Joe alone, they would have been.

Serious question: what crime did Williams commit that jail would be an option? Hiring a friend who turned out to have a lot issues is stupid, for sure, but rising to the level of crime is a stretch.

That seems to be a common theme here. The BOT is going to jail, Shuey is going to do the perp walk, Corbet is headed to prison. Yet no one can actually articulate a single crime.

Panicking and firing people who shouldn't have been fired is terrible, gutless and short sighted. But I'm not sure what criminal code that violated.

Please tell me what I'm missing beyond unproven allegations and the board's desire to send people to jail bc of what they did to JVP.

What you seem to be missing is that I never said he was going to jail, that he committed a crime or that there was any reason to think he did. You will also note, if you actually read what I wrote, that I also used the term "die." I do not think he is going to die, either.

I realize from your post that you do not understand what I was saying. Fine. Happens a lot. But you cannot just twist the statement you do not understand to make it fit some rant you want to write.

None of these guys are going to jail. So long as the world knows what types of idiots and assholes they are, they don't get off scot-free, either. Suhey, for example, will go to his grave realizing what he did to the once-sterling Suhey family name, and he knows his relatives can't be happy about that. Everybody knows for sure now that Williams is no Mensa candidate, and his political career is over. Frazier will inevitably be exposed for the Freeh debacle. Etc etc. In some ways they'll be doing a perp walk for the rest of their lives as far as PSU is concerned.

There will very likely be evidence of criminal conspiracy and perhaps worse crimes forthcoming. Also Seth is being investigated for corruption of his own. These people are clearly not squeaky clean.

Even the bit-part players think they are untouchable. It's astounding.

Seth can't do it....ALL OF THEM ARE DIRTY! Don't tell me Seth didn't know...screw that...Joe had to know what went on with his football team, correct? Well Seth, you had to know what goes on in your office. Can't have it both ways asshole.

Evidence of criminal conspiracy?

Conspiracy to do what? Fire employees in a panic. As I said its gutless and cowardly but not criminal. So what was the conspiracy and how did they gain from it?

I've been waiting for evidence of a crime by the BOT and I just don't see one beyond stupidity.

It's a crime if one of those guys is behind the doctoring of the emails. What if they made sure the Freeh investigation was predetermined? What if they violated BOT rules that resulted in the university paying out zillions of dollars for something that they may not have been responsible for? The possibilities still remain.

How about knowingly not properly executing their fiduciary responsibility as a starter?

10 yrs...that's a good one for starters....they will be found guilty of a lot more than that...no way there weren't BOT people taking $$$$ that was going thru the 2M...

Other posters have alluded to elements of potential crime. Add to it potential money laundering and worse crimes. Just hang tight.
