Franklin noted offensive standouts for a Ohio; QB Kurtis Rourke, RB Sieh Bangura, and WR James Bostick. We discussed them all at length in our preview post today.
“We’ve had discussions about that, we want to make sure we have depth throughout our entire program….”
“In theory, I think what we’re tried to do is hopefully play in a way that allows guys to get on the field but it doesn’t always play that out. But to be strategic to put our players in position to gain valuable in game experience”
- Franklin answering about getting younger guys (I.e Allar) snaps in competitive game situations.
Franklin graded Penn State’s secondary out to 14 pass breakups. Six of those of course came from Joey Porter Jr. Once again emphasizes getting interceptions when the opportunity presents itself.
- Carter was expected to play a decent amount if he was able to perform. Franklin wants to get him a ton of reps on special teams and defense this week. Also would like to get Dom DeLuca more snaps
- Tyler Elsdon and Kobe King will continue to rotate.
- Sutherland will mostly rotate in and out depending if the Nittany Lions run nickel.
- Playing Jamari Buddin as much as they did was not part of the plan but it played out as it did.
Franklin was pleased with the defense overall it sounds, some missed assignments that need to be cleaned up. Notes you often see the biggest jump from week one to week two.
No decision has been made regarding whose Penn State’s backup quarterback. Nittany Lions haven’t really practiced yet since the game. Went through film corrections and such the last few days.
