Bwahahahaha. Bwahahahahah. So much for the victory lap Trump was taking. "Well oiled machine," my ass.
Lying under oath. Perjury. When have I heard Republicans squawking about that before? Oh, the irony.
Funny as hell watching Sessions and his surrogates attempt the "I was wearing my Armed Services Committee hat" argument. Never mind that he had not one, but two, meetings with the Russian Ambassador while he was serving as a Trump campaign surrogate. Never mind that Sessions was meeting the Russian Ambassador at the Republican National Convention. Never mind that he flatly denied any communications in his confirmation testimony, had the opportunity to correct the record if he wished, and declined to do so. Never mind that he answered a written questionnaire (that all nominees appearing at Senate confirmation hearings must complete) asking if he "had contacts or communications of any kind with foreign government officials during the campaign," and his one word answer was "no."
The guy is toast. Trump likely wants to drop Sessions like a hot rock, but is understandably concerned about what he might come out with if he gets the old heave ho.
The other entertaining nugget of information to come out of all this is confirmation that the Obama Administration scrambled, during the period between Election Day and Inauguration Day, to collect and preserve intelligence about Russian hacking and contacts between Trump surrogates and the Russians. So much for any plans Trump might have had to deep six any intelligence data bearing on those issues.
What a great day!
