Franco and Sue Paterno will be there…both strong supporters of Judge Covey.

I tweeted about it here:

I would encourage people in State College (and elsewhere when she visits your part of the state) to go and at least listen to her and evaluate her for the next election. She was pretty much 1 of the very few in the judiciary to use critical thought and cut through the BS when dealing with the NCAA mess.

Much love for Covey, bigger balls than most men I know. I'm even tempted to go Gold on this.

Those names on there don't give me much confidence, I'm going to pass.

$500 is a pretty steep cost to go and just listen.

Well there's always the $250 (and I've seen lower amounts at other gatherings around the state). In any event- your choice.

I'm a strong supporter of Judge Covey and think she would make an excellent Supreme Court Justice.

Not a football thing at all, right? It's all about the children, yes?

Not sure what your point is. Judge Covey had nothing to do with JS. She presided over representative Jake Corman's case against the NCAA and is currently running for Pennsylvania Supreme Court. It's about what kind of judge she is.

Other than the Corman v NCAA case, what kind of a judge is she?

That's the whole point of people going to listen to her and evaluate. Most people vote for judges not knowing anything about them.

Edit- What does she have to do with 'the children'? She did not preside over the JS case. In what way is looking into her candidacy somehow choosing football over the children?

Listen? For $500. Get real.

Look at her campaign finance reports, for free & get back to me.

Familiar list of fund raisers and some interesting company. A bit eye opening.

Ah yes, Bob Poole. Could that be THE Bob Poole? Chairman of the Board of Second Mile & possible mob guy as someone once told me (or was it Hiem? I forget). Guess Covey's on the conspiracy bankroll now too. ; )

Yes. The same Bob Poole who, along with other TSM board members and affiliates, was a contributor to Corbett. Poole even held a fundraiser for Corbett at his home in 2010, if I remember correctly. He is a Republican after all. I understand your point, but anyone who is surprised that Bob Poole and his GOP friends would be leading a GOP fundraiser in Centre County, is pretty naive. Also, Covey is most likely not going to refuse support from leading, wealthy, influential PA Republicans with whom there is no demonstrable conflict of interest or ethical dilemma. She is not flush with cash and is in the game of politics.

It isn't surprising at all that Bob Poole would be holding a GOP fundraiser in Centre County

What is surprising is that Judge Covey would willingly walk into The Second Mile cesspool just for some cash

It is also surprising that Sue and Franco who have been fighting to restore Joe's legacy are now partnering with the very same people who helped destroy it. Franco and Sue partying with Lance Shaner and Bob Poole doesn't get any fresher than that ............

But the most telling (but not surprising to me) is that the all knowing and enraged Penn Staters here on this message board don't think anything of this.

Fenchak how have you let this fly right over your head -

Not surprising at all to me. We're talking about politics. She's trying to get elected. Also, if Sue Paterno is attending, it would surely put a stamp of approval on the event.

I assume Sue and Franco don't share your perspective. Obviously, they don't.

I think some feel confused and betrayed and just don't know what to say.

That stamp of approval is the problem

The Second Mile Leaders are using Sue and Franco to say look at us we must be great people if they are hanging out with us.

The Second Mile did the exact same thing using PSU Football to prop up its standing as a charity and then when Jerry's gig was up they get PSU Football and Joe fried.

Anyone who is willing to make excuses for Sue and Franco hanging out with The Second Mile can't complain about what happened to PSU Football and Joe
