Juice Scruggs

Brown was going to play in a couple of those games last year I thought and still came back. Will see.

This sets the line as follows then, until we hear from Wallace and Effner...
LT Fashanu
LG Tengwall
C Nourzad
RG Wormley
RT Wallace OR Effner OR Shelton

That line will be at least equal to this year's line.

Including the Rose Bowl?

I saw he was projected as a 6th or 7th round pick. So much for staying of you're not a 1st or 2nd round pick.
He can play in the bowl game
I dont know where this 1st or 2nd round pick comes from. Most kids that enter the draft aren't. Hell, we'll have about 200 underclassmen in the draft. Many won't get drafted and they know that.

He should be able to play in the Rose bowl ( unless he chooses not to), as most of the all star games are after the bowl season. The all star games used to be the the participants “first professional game” , as they would earn a paycheck.
— One of the other sites suggest that he can play in the Shrine game, and still come back to Penn State for a final year. If so, this is a recent change ( last few years), with way to many moving parts for me to grasp, lol.
—So, in the end, I guess we’ll see what transpires. With this NIL and portal stuff, I’m less sure of anything. —It’s like watching one of those continually changing “Harry Potter staircases” on the wall

The one factor that has not changed in football is the limited number of roster spots in the NFL. To me it makes no sense for a late rounder to leave early. Why not spend one more year improving your draft marketability while earning NIL money and a degree?

Maybe he feels his growth is topped out? Maybe he doesn't like taking classes? Maybe the same guy that convinced Washington to make a likely poor decision got to Juice also?

It's hard to say. But there certainly are a lot of guys that leave for late round to UDFA grades. The problem is that they all believe that they are NFL guys. There are probably at least 1000 college players that come out each year that honestly think they will make it in the NFL. It's sad.

And maybe his family is poor and he wants to help now. Maybe the kids coming up are better and he doesn’t want benched. Maybe he is starting a family. Maybe he has a history of injuries and is worried about more.

We have no idea what these players are dealing with or what shapes their decisions. Just hope they made a good choice and wish them well.

for what it is worth.....on the PFF NFL Draft Simulator you can still get Scruggs late in round 7.

While we think everyone of these kids who leave early thinks they will be drafted in to the NFL, there are some of them who are just wanting to be done with college. I have a few former players who played P5 football and a couple who were even drafted and some of them have said that guys who leave early may just want to get out of the college structure. They would love to be drafted or even go play in Canada, but most of them just dont want to take classes anymore.

Exactly, could be many things and they don't have to seem logical to us. He may be a late round pick and is likely thinking he can improve on that at the east west game. Either way, he represented PSU well. Disappointing that he didn't get himself into the top 3 rounds but he did have that huge setup with the injuries from his accident.

I would hope they would be better than equal with an influx of young talent behind these season's *starters* who got experience. The right side of the line isn't exactly inspiring if Wallace or Effner starts at RT. Not sure Eff is returning, but if so, I would hope he would be an experience guy who gets reps behind a starter with a high ceiling. No doubt the 2022 OL took major strides this year...but those strides will need to be even greater to take that next step as a program...that goes for all positions, obviously.

To think that Juice is in a position to graduate and possibly play pro ball is a great accomplishment for him and the PSU community. If he were unable to recover and play then his whole life could've gone down another path. Together he is able to make his choices for his reasons.

Like Bison alluded to, "School" has changed a lot in the last couple of years and I totally understand why k8ds just want to be done.

Good luck to him...
a PSU inspirational legend in my book.
