Let's not forget to take a moment to honor all those that took part in that massive event. My father was a member of the 29th Infantry that assaulted Omaha Beach that day. The only time I ever saw him talk about what took place that day was when he was at the VFW (Bellevue. PA) in the company of others that were there that day. He was lucky when he got transferred to HQ (Cav Recon) from a rifle platoon because of blood blisters.
