Just five minutes of lighthearted humor

that brings back so many memories.

my brother was going to be a top-flight offensive lineman and linebacker until he blew his knee out (back in the days when a torn ACL was a career-ender). So I get to Freshman football, all 135 lbs, and because I was a brother to a really good player, they put me in the same position. I don't believe I ever got over 160 lbs but played guard and outside linebacker for a small school. In the meantime, I ended up being a 100 point track player who ran the intermediate and high hurdles while participating in the 800 or 1600 relay depending upon the team matchup.

We ended up winning the first league championship in football the high school ever had. There were a ton of talented kids on that team and all have done well in life.

But being, "in the boonies", we raised some stock on our small farm. We had some hogs and would deliver them from time to time to a buyer or a butcher. We had a pickup truck with some wood "high sides". We'd put the hog in the back and one of the boy-kids would ride back there with the hog while dad drove. Once, going through a small town, the hog tried to jump out at a redlight. He was trying to go over the top of the high side. I had it in a headlock pounding it with my fist in its face. I looked over and one of the hottest high school girls in the county was standing waiting for the light to change with her friends watching. Oh the horror of it all.

At that point, I thought of Jan and Greg Brady and wondered why I didn't have a maid and grass that never needed cutting. So I decided I was going to go to college and figure this thing out. Great speech by the young man and very funny.
