Neighbors rushed me to the emergency room late last night.
They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me, so they kept me overnight for observation. I
had been consumed by uncontrollable paroxysms of convulsive laughter.
This morning upon discharge, the nurse told me that all night I had a kind of maniacal look in my eyes and, while mostly incoherent, kept trying to say something about somebody named Bobo Wayne Challis.
They never did understand, but they didn’t think they could hold me any longer.
The fits of laughter continue to strike me every so often today.
I can see lots of you guys thought of Mr. Schalles like I did. Almost immediately I thought to
myself that wherever he is, he is grinning and laughing about Bo.
Actually I think I was half laughing and half crying.
That may have been the single most dramatic moment in sports for me.
At least since Maz hit his home run on my birthday.
