brought 20 copies of Ron Smith's book, "WOUNDED LIONS," to the BOT meeting and handed them out. Here is a trustee promoting a book that slanders the very institution he is supposed to be defending. These people flaunt their hatred for Joe Paterno and their absolute neglect of their fiduciary duty with impunity.

"Joe Paterno, Jerry Sandusky, and the Crises in Penn State Athletics
A rogue program, an iconic coach, and an unspeakable tragedy"

Their problem is they are blinded by their hate for Joe Paterno, to the point where nothing else matters. That hatred will ultimately be their undoing.

From the grave, Joe will win one more time.

I'm just guessing here (no inside info) but it seems like it's an attempt to keep the lazy BoT members (those who don't think but just vote as the leadership wants) in line. Sort of a 'see- the real world agrees with us. Forget those who don't agree with us'. Seriously, why would you buy 20 copies of that book (when the BoT is now 36 or so members) and hand them out at a BoT meeting? Did the alumni reps even say anything about this or just sit there quietly?

Any info regarding what Silvas said as he distributed them? Did he make a statement, for example? Or do it quietly to select members? Did anyone ask him about his purpose for doing this?
These OG BOTs are the most tone deaf leaders of anything ever.

I heard that one trustee threw a copy of the book in the trash. Silvis is acknowledged in the book. Enough said. If I had been there, the lead story on the local news would have been about an old lady being arrested for assault.

Perhaps there is some truth to Bernstein's claim that former trustees have contacted him. With Alumni Trustees gaining access to Freeh Documents and other law suits proceeding.........it is reasonable to assume a bit of desperation is prevailing.

I wouldn't trust a single thing Bernstein writes. He has made it abundantly (and obnoxiously) clear the past few years that he only entertains opinions and "facts" that agree with his opinion and ignores anything that doesn't. He's basically a baby Keith Olbermann.

I saw on Twitter where someone reported he said Erickson was forced out and BoT members resigned in protest as a result. For those that follow him- did he really say that? If so, then that tells you all you need to know about his reporting ability.

I hear you. But I would not put it past Suhey or Joyner whispering in his ear that things are ten times worse and the JoeBots are on the war path.

I agree. I wouldn't put it past the old guard either.

I do find it frustrating that they put in the 'Lubrano rule' to shut up alumni trustees who were speaking publicly against the narrative.......... but yet Silvis can cooperate with an author that attacks Penn State and actually be put in the acknowledgements (true?) of the book?? And he can then hand out copies of that same book at a BoT meeting????

The alumni reps need to seriously call out Silvis in the next meeting.

2 very good questions there!!! Any answers???[/QUOTE

The committees and not the full board met today. Paul Silvis chairs the Compensation Committee. Other members are Dambly, Masser, Casey and two other co-conspirators so Silvis knew they would love a copy of this work of fiction. BTW, Silvis is acknowledged in the book.

Ira Lubert is the other member.

This is the sort of jackass who it can be a great deal of fun to struggle against and beat. He is the kind of person who makes it a really special JOY to win. It is always nice to win, but this is special now. Silvis not only supports this book but passes it out at a BoT meeting. That was the sort of thing that is really of no value to anyone whatever except as a means of hurting people regarding a very sensitive subject. And what does it get him? A few cheap laughs at the expense of a heartsick widow?

It is the sort of lowclass move that earns you the permanent enmity of others, and gains you nothing. Its a Bret Bielema move.

Never cared much about Silvis before but I will never forget his name now.

Silvis is a complete tool. More emails will come to light about how he and Frazier "shaped" the narrative of the Sandusky scandal.

and yes, CV. If I were trapped in an elevator with Silvis, might have to borrow one of those books.

Just looking at the quick math- 39 BoT members (including the governor and Barron). Then subtract out 9 alumni reps, and 10 (non alumni) executive committee reps, and you hit that magic 20 book number. So basically the quiet sheep in the middle that need to be constantly fed so they don't stray into the field next door. ;)

When he offered the book to me I told him he could put it where the sun doesn't shine.

Ah, but you can send them the book anytime. Passing it out at the meeting, in front of others, is the real message. Offering it to Anthony Lubrano is the real message.

Look for the author to get a campus building named after him.
The Paterno statue is probably being melted to make the name plate and door hardware.

Good to hear. Thanks.

Maybe there should be a public BoT discussion with questions asked about reps abandoning their fiduciary responsibility by participating in books that attack the university......and joyously handing out copies at BoT meetings? ;)

How ****ing retarded is the governance at Psu that this guy can be a trustee?

Exactly. How ridiculous is it that a (supposed) trustee of the university can participate in a book that attacks his own university.......(to the degree that he's apparently mentioned in the book with a personal acknowledgment).......and then hands out that same book at a BoT meeting and he's not forced to resign?

EDIT- He's in the group of governor appointed trustees. The governor's office should be on the phone with him tonight telling him to step down or be replaced.

Though he is a Gubenatorial appointee, he is sponsored by Senator Corman.

You need to write Senator Corman.

No problem but neither Corman or Wolf appear to be able to talk (much less listen) to each other lately. ;)

That said, he is a governor appointee. Even if Wolf needs the legislature to approve the next appointee, it would be better to leave the spot vacant while they fight it out rather than keep Silvis there. Is there a policy where governor appointees can't be replaced en mass but only in the painfully slow process of 2-3 per year?

For anyone else who wants it, here's Corman's contact info-
