Reading a lot on Twitter...FSU QB coach was in Georgia yesterday for a visit. Some believe Florida has really attracted his interest. He was quoted in a recent article saying he's "keeping his options open" per the advice of his dad. Hoping we can hang on to him and sign him on the dotted line on Dec. 20th per new NCAA rules.

He's a 5-star and one of the best QBs in the country. It would be a surprise if he was not getting full court press from the likes of those schools.

Like with any of these kids getting that much attention, there will be a lot of ebbs and flows to their recruitment. It's not worth reacting to every hiccup with 9 months to go til signing day.

There is only one thing PSU can do to fend off the SEC, Clemson and OSU..............increase the book allowance to super max. Oh, and offer more anime and hip hop........on line courses. Oh, the humanity!

Sorry I don't spend every waking hour on the board. My apologies for the "old news".
Not your fault. No doubt you're a very supportive PSU fan who doesn't happen to come here all the time.

A couple things at work here:
We really don't won't to lose this guy, and he's in the heart of SEC country, where he's getting pitched hard by some big power schools
Some trolls have agitated the situation with dire predictions they basically have made up

Hope this experience doesn't chase you away. Cheers.

We will not loose Fields IMO.

Franklin and staff know that we can't allow a kid of this magnitude to get away.

This kid talks up PSU to fellow recruits and talks to other kids about coming to PSU.
True and simply map what kids he is talking to and see if they commit...he would have to be soulless to not Commit himself.

Hate to mention it, but so did Parsons.

I wouldn't worry too much about things outside of our control. Our goal isn't to be Alabama or OSU. I'd like to see the team contend for the B1G East title most years, but Penn State values victory with honor. If we play in the CFP once every 5 years, we are far exceeding my wildest expectations.

Right. He's one of the best QBs in the country, he's from well outside our recruiting footprint and he committed VERY early.

Unless he was a legacy or had some other serious ties to PA or PSU, maintaining his "commitment" was going to be a challenge. Why wouldn't he look around to find the best situation for himself. He's lucky to have the opportunity.

I'm sure he and his family are being offered a lot of cash and other under the table benefits. I highly doubt they are the sort of people who would be interested, or he never would have visited PSU in the first place.

PSU is a great choice for him -- it's a perfect offense for him, there will be abundant offensive talent around him, the fan atmosphere is the best, the school lets him get a quality degree in a huge number of majors.

However, if Fields does decide to change his mind and go to FSU, UF, OSU, Alabama because it's a better fit or better academics or whatever, I wish him well.

See Franklin's comments this week about commits/decommits. You hope they are ready to make a permanent decision when they commit, but these are teenagers and sometimes they make the wrong decision.

I think fans here should get used to this. Franklin has positioned PSU to compete for 5 stars, for athletes who are really top tier national recruits. The recruiting battles for this kind of recruit are something we haven't even seen a lot of at PSU. Especially for kids from SEC territory -- the SEC schools are going to fight really hard for them.

This is what Meyer has to do every year at Ohio State -- recruit like mad, get commitments from 5 star players and then battle to hold on to them.
