AG Kane losing sixth spokesperson since 2013

HARRISBURG - The exit of top staffers for Attorney General Kathleen Kane continues.
Carolyn Myers on Thursday confirmed she gave her bosses two weeks' notice on Monday. She becomes the sixth spokesperson for Kane to depart that position since 2013.
Kane's chief of staff, Blake Rutherford, resigned last week only four months into his job. Rutherford was the fifth top staffer to leave since 2013, when Kane took office as the state's first woman and elected attorney general.
On Wednesday, Kane fired James Barker, the head of her criminal appeals section, even though Myers said she could not say he did anything wrong. She said it was part of a restructuring of the criminal division.
Myers was unable to say more Thursday morning, but she is joining the Harrisburg-based public relations firm of Shelly Lyons Communications.
Myers has been with Kane as a deputy press secretary since 2013. She took over duties as Kane's chief spokesperson when Aaron Sadler resigned Feb. 28.
Kane is ensnared in a criminal investigation in which a statewide grand jury recommended criminal charges, including perjury and obstruction of justice, related to a leak of secret grand jury material to the Philadelphia Daily News, reportedly to try to embarrass a former prosecutor with whom she publicly feuded.
