Keith Richards: Rap Is for 'Tone-Deaf People'

Keith Richards is not the target consumer of rap music. Makes sense that he doesn't get it. It would surprise me more if he spoke out in favor of it.

I find rap from the 90's to be mostly enjoyable (when I was a teenager). Now I think that current rap sucks. It's me who's changed. I don't relate anymore.

Also crapped on The Beatles, Metallica, and Black Sabbath.

I have never chide away from stating The Beatles suck. Most hammer me for it, but if you listen to the Beatles it is amazing how much of what you hear isn't really there !! Sorta of like MP3 files before there ever was a thing like MP3? Guitars are thin, records over produced. The only thing good I can say about the Beatles is they don't suck as much as Led Zeppelin, but that is a matter of taste and "tone deafness."

Also so much of the Beatles stuff sounds the same, jingles.

"Why don't we do it in the road?" Mind blowing lyrics on this one?

Heavy Metal is terrible.

Rap = Crap !!

Mick Jaggar was an amazing singer but after 1973 and even more so after 1981 and then even worse after 1989 Jaggar just didn't give a shit anymore. Shit happens.

Whether you relate or not, it is still crap. So is most pop music.

Whether you like rap or not you gotta admit there's not a lot of melody to it. A tone deaf person would have an easier time enjoying rap than they would music with a lot of melody.

Musical taste is opinion.
Yep, just like everything else. Who's the best PSU player....what's the best beer....who has the best cheesesteaks...where's the best place to live... Ask 1000 people and you get a 1000 different answers.

Keith Richards is a huge admirer of black soul and early R&B music and he writes in his book how the stones were influenced almost entirely by black americans. Problem is that music has been completely replaced by rap.
