first # is Wrestle Stat's ranking of the wrestler. second # is Wrestle Stat's ranking of the team.

Thanks..Any word if Hall, Rasheed or any of the other redshirts or backups are entered?

How the heck did wrestlestats do their ranking? Suriano 42? Morelli 36? Nevills 49 and Mouse 3?

174 looks interesting...looks like a good measuring stick for Geno and Shak - they should have some tough matches but it's reasonable to think they should meet in the finals if on opposite sides of the bracket.

I have 15 EXTRA ALL session tickets if anybody wants them. (Long story).. FREE to anybody and everybody... I plan to attend the semifinals and finals but can't make the early rounds.. . Can't wait for Sunday!

Hoping Chad Walsh is indeed wrestling this weekend. Not sure what happened at Journeyman.

Do you know if Shak is in this? Just noticed Sebastian in there..he was a monster in high school, glad to see him back healthy

I was excited to see Sebastian in the field too. As for knowledge of Shak attending the tourney, I'm just going off of Roars post from another thread...

Good question. No information, though it's my understanding he's going to the Classic this weekend.

That was in reference to someone asking why Shak withdrew from the Bearcat tourney.

No idea. I believe CS had a Media Day today, so perhaps that will come out in articles tonight or tomorrow.

Wrestle Stat's rankings are computer generated. Computer generated rankings hurt true freshmen (Suriano), and guys that didn't wrestle a lot last year due to injuries or whatever (Morelli & Nevills) because there is very little data to use in their respective rankings. Cutch's situation is different. He had a lot of good wins last year, and some pretty good wins the year before, so there's a lot of data on him. Then he moved into a weight class that doesn't have a lot of returning AAs, so the existing data on him may well have him ranked too high.

I like Wrestle Stat's rankings, and I like the Dual Impact Index rankings (also computer generated), but in past years in my Weekly Review I've often included a comment about them early in the season that they are most inaccurate when their data sets are very limited.

Here's something that the University of Pennsylvania released today. You can access it at THIS LINK.

PHILADELPHIA – Once again, The Palestra will serve as home it Penn Wrestling’s annual Keystone Classic Presented by Canna Milne Financial on November 20, welcoming 12 of the nation’s top wrestling programs to the “House of Wrestling” for a premier early-season tournament.

Penn, ranked No. 22 in this week’s InterMat Tournament Rankings, will host defending national champion Penn State (ranked No. 4), and No. 23 Rider in addition to Appalachian State, Drexel, Eastern Michigan, Edinboro, Franklin & Marshall, Harvard, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Sacred Heart and VMI.

Keystone Classic Schedule
9 a.m. – Championship First Round
2:30 p.m. – Championship Semifinals
5:30 p.m. – Championship Finals

A total of 25 ranked wrestlers are on the rosters of the competing teams this weekend, setting up many potential early-season looks at NCAA Championships contenders.

Weight-By-Weight Notes (All Entries Subject to Change)

125 pounds: Penn State freshman No. 6 Nick Suriano is the line Top-20 wrestler entered this weekend, he is coming off a 3-0 win over then-No. 4 Connor Schramm of Stanford. Drexel’s Zach Fuentes and Pittsburgh’s L.J. Bentley are returning NCAA qualifiers at the weight.

133 pounds: Three Top-20 wrestlers are entered this weekend, including a pair of Top-10 wrestlers in Pittsburgh’s No. 8 Dom Forys and Penn State’s No. 9 Jared Cortez. The third ranked wrestler represents the home team in No. 17 Caleb Richardson. Forys was Round of 12 at last year’s NCAAS. Keep an eye on Drexel’s Kevin Devoy, who is back down at 133 after bumping to 141 last year. In 2014-15, Devoy won 38 matches at 133 pounds, won Drexel’s first EIWA championship, and was a Round of 12 wrestler at NCAAs.

141 pounds: Penn State’s No. 11 Jimmy Gulibon is the lone Top-20 and returning NCAA qualifier in the field. Youth will be served at this weight as 17 of the 24 entries are freshmen or sophomores.

149 pounds: Defending NCAA champion Zain Retherford of Penn State is currently ranked No. 1 in the country. He will be joined by No. 9 Matt Cimato of Drexel in the field. Cimato was a quarterfinalist last year at NCAAs. Joining them as returning NCAA qualifiers will be Eastern Michigan’s Nick Barber. Pitt’s Mikey Racciatto – the Keystone champion at 141 last year – has moved up to 149.

157 pounds: Penn State’s Jason Nolf was a NCAA finalist last year at 157, and is No. 1 in the country this week. He leads a field of four Top-20 wrestlers, including Penn’s No. 19 May Bethea. Last year, Bethea claimed the Keystone Classic crown and won a match at NCAAs. Also among Top-20 wrestlers entered are No. 17 B.J. Clagon – an All-American at 149 – and No. 20 Neal Richards of VMI.

165 pounds: Rider’s Chad Walsh, an All-American at 157 last year, is ranked No. 5 at 165 this season. Three other Top-20 wrestlers are entered this weekend – No. 12 Vincenzo Joseph (Penn State), No. 13 Te’Shan Campbell (Pittsburgh) and No. 17 Forrest Pryzbyz (Appalachian State).

174 pounds: Penn’s Casey Kent is ranked No. 3 in the country after earning All-American honors last season. Penn State’s Geno Morelli, a NCAA qualifier last year at 165, is ranked No. 13 this season at 174. Harvard’s Josef Johnson was a NCAA qualifier last season. Northwestern’s Johnny Sebastian, a Bergen Catholic product, missed all of last year with injury but was 23-3 as a redshirt in 2014-15.

184 pounds: Penn State again leads the way with No. 3 Bo Nickal, the NCAA runner-up at 174 last season. This is another field which can be considered wide open after the top seed with no other returning NCAA qualifiers and no seniors among the 16 entrants.

197 pounds: Three Top-20 wrestlers are entered at this weight, led by Rider’s Ryan Wolfe who enters the week ranked No. 11. Just behind him is Penn State’s Matt McCutcheon at No. 14 while Penn’s Frank Mattiace is ranked No. 16.

285 pounds: Appalachian State’s Denzel Dejournette is ranked No. 8 this week and is the defending champion from last year’s Keystone Classic. Penn State sophomore Nick Nevills is ranked No. 13 this week, while Pittsburgh’s Ryan Solomon is No. 14. Other notable entrants are returning NCAA qualifiers Gage Hutchinson (Eastern Michigan), Joey Goodhart (Drexel) and Mauro Correnti (Rider).

Ankle Pick, I would be interested in roughly 5 or 6 of the tickets if possible.

Ankle Pick, still have tickets available? I'd be thrilled with 2, off the roof with 4.

Rizzo hasn't been below 215/220 since junior high.
Lol. That's why I was surprised to see him listed at 197. On a side note, my entire family has gotten lazy so we eat out for Thanksgiving and the Rizzo's put together quite a nice spread at their restraunt. Johns parents are great people and his Mom always stops at the table to talk a little wrasslin'...

Rizzo was a heavyweight state champ (twice I think), then a 220 lb. state champ his senior year. I believe football was his priority and the lower weight was more ideal for a running back. He was a good one. Over 4,000 yards during his time at Richland.

Will the Keystone Classic be streamed?

Or will this be a combo of GoPsuSports radio + TrackWrestling ?

EDIT: Maybe FLO is carrying it live.

I hope FLO carries both the Keystone & Reno.

...any major motel should carry BTN ...

...if not just ask the person at the front desk for the nearest sports bar...

Four of us are coming down Saturday night and staying near the airport. Where can we go to watch the Rutgers game?

A few options, in random order:

1. Players Sports Bar
Hilton Philadelphia Airport
4509 Island Avenue
Philadelphia, PA
(probably the best sports bar located at the hotels that surround the airport)

2. Chickie's and Pete's
1526 Packer Avenue
Philadelphia, PA
(this is 2 blocks from the sports complex, and a few miles from the airport. One of the top sports bars in Philadelphia.)

3. XFINITY Live!
1100 Pattison Avenue
Philadelphia, PA
(this is located right at the sports complex, and a few miles from the airport. Has become super popular. Actually several sports bars within the complex, so you can pick which you prefer.)

most of the hotels have some type of place which might serve your needs.
