Why on earth would you spend CFB TV air time on kids trying to get footballs out of trees? They actually had a split screen of 'kids' footballs in trees' vs Penn St Indiana actual game play. WTF? Also, Indiana has a Pitt-like game day Carnival atmosphere plus kids are tossing footballs just beyond the End Zone. Didn't a ball get on the field and Indiana got a re-kick giving us lousy field position? The insanity of trying to manufacture college football as family fun entertainment.

That's a perfect story line in a 48-3 game late in the 4th quarter. It was killing me that they were giving it time in the middle of a close game.

That play field behind the end zone was bizarre. I'm not a grinch in terms of letting the kids play but it could be potentially dangerous. I.E. What if a kid chases said ball and is plowed by a special teamed coming at full speed? You're right that was not the place for those activities.

I think there are barriers to prevent that, but it is still a distraction and with the ball coming over the fence and stopping play..... yeesh.
Great idea, really poor location. Get it completely out of the way and out of sight of the playing field. Put up a few TV screens so that parents who are watching the kids can keep an eye on the game at the same time. As it is, my guess is that some or many parents are in the stands and their kids are playing down there on their own.
IU probably would like to put a team on the field where occupying the kids isn't quite as necessary to draw people to the games.

I thought IU should have been penalized for allowing a stray football to enter the playing field. PSU was flagged years ago for being "too loud".

Yes and it was a big loss of yardage and barely explained by the broadcasting crew and INMO should have either been a penalty on Indy or let us keep the ball where it was.
Bottom line it cost us about 20 yards of field position.

Because at that point in time, the game was boring enough that kids trying to get footballs out of trees was more interesting. One of the announcers backhandedly alluded to that, if you were listening...

It looked like one of the squirrel tries to get to bird feeder videos except with people.

Do any of you people that comment on this stuff actually watch the game?
It was 17-14 IU and it was at the 11:00 or so mark in the 3rd quarter.
Yea the game was TOTALLY out of hand.
