Bright man, well read, doctor. From the great state of (drum roll) NJ.

As we're grabbing the check the subject of 'my team, Penn State' pops up. He asks me what I think about that kid getting millions (not how fantastic the season has been .. but he's a pro football guy).

McQ? Yup, he's the one.

I tell him, don't get me started but he starts anyway. So I say... well, there's a kid who reported what he thinks he saw but couldn't say for sure and certainly did NOTHING about... who reports to his pappy and his doctor (a first responder) what he, ummm, thinks he mighta saw a putty tat... and they blew him off.

'Well, says FIL, he TOLD paterno and Paterno says he SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE.

And ever so gently I reply... NO, Dad, he said in hindsight -- as in now that we know what scum JS is -- he WISHES he had done more.

"Same thing."

Um, no... oh WTH.

And there ya go, peeps.... the media has done its work.

What kind of doc is he?

Tell him you thought Mike should have gotten a billion dollars and they should dig Paterno up and shoot him. Then all alumni should go out and hang themselves. Since nothing you say matters, just agree with him and he'll stop. My father is the same way. You have to figure out which hill you want to die on.
sad state of affairs.. good news is he's so vested in his ny teams that this will go away. but it just reinforced what so many have observed... the media laid the lie and it's embedded in the masses.

Yes.... the only person that (with the benefit of hindsight) wished he had more, gets crucified while the turn your back-run away from it 'move on' PR crowd, they are still here with us.

Makes me dry heave, especially since all they have implemented to stop pedophilia is superficial, ineffective and nothing more than a mere smoke screen.

The message in all this is never care, never let your sadness at not doing what you could not have done be known to the public. Put on a show and move on. Just keep saying....All is well....all is well...all is well.

Suffice it to say I just did a "hide post" over what a friend of my sister said on Facebook. She apparently thought Mike Mc Queary was taking on Big bad Joe Paterno when he went to see him that morning. Obviously she didn't know Fact 1 about the issue -- but that didn't stop her from weighing in. Hence, hide post.

Sounds like he was looking to say his piece no matter how you reacted. If you asked him not to get you started and he did anyway nothing good was going to come of that conversation.

- He went with the "I shoulda' done more" bit

- You corrected and educated him - right? - by supplying the accurate terminology and context

- HE said "whatever.....same difference"

- And that's the "media"'s fault?????

If you educate and inform this person......and they still insist on being an ignorant dumbshit, that AIN'T the "media"'s fault
Either you didn't do a very good job of educating him - - or he is an incurable dumbshit

Just do what I do, immediately change the conversation to religion. Tell him youre an atheist. Tell him you refuse to raise his grandkids in any relogion. Tell him how ALL religion is a cancer and they need to be stopped.

He'll never bring Penn State back up, again. Trust me.:D

Sorry....the Media only delivered the "story" that was engineered by a professional "Spin Doctor" OVER..and OVER...and OVER again. Since the BOT was also connected to this deception, THEY DID NOT ACT as normal "Boards" would do. They did NOTHING to refute what is an ABSURD premise...Paterno had a motive for "covering up Sandusky's crimes" - BAD FOOTBALL PROGRAM PUBLICITY!!! The media just focused on this engineered motive and IGNORED the $650,000 TSM donation to Corbet (who controlled the investigation and the OAG) and the fact that Sandusky was EMPLOYED by TSM at the time of his criminal indictment.

Since the BOT would only apologize for the "victims" (I call them benefactors of this scam) - this abnormal response added the credibility needed to STRETCH Paterno's honest & innocent comment on what Sandusky was accused of into AN ADMISSION OF GUILT!!! Of course, like the political basis on which this entire fraud was based, the MEDIA MADE SURE THEY (OOPS) MISQUOTED what Paterno said.

This entire Scandal is based upon an ENGINEERED professional "Hit" by Harrisburg based on the same principals used in creating a political SMEAR campaign. If you rationally examine the methods used for 5+ years - it becomes mathematical PROOF that this - a Political "Hit" is the case!!!

The key to this fiasco is that Harrisburg CONTROLLED the BOT!!! If any form of normal response form PSU was taken at the beginning of this...the deception would have failed. It relies on the "New Media-driven American Concept" of Guilt until Proven Innocent. In a crime where the PA government is involved. what is the chance that justice will be done and "Innocent" is allowed. PA Politics controls the courts and therefore the misinformation pool that has driven this Scandal!!!

What I am saying is fundamentally....this crime is "an inside job" - the mistakes made by anyone in the "Public" are ONLY WHAT WAS PROGRAMMED....the situation we have today are the results of some careful planning and collusion BY CRIMINALS....the PA OAG, Corbett, Freeh, NCAA, B1G and our own BOT!!

Yes, the entire thing is an engineered hit. Sandusky was just giving general hygiene advice to children, repeatedly, over a period of time.

Dear God, you need help.

I've found the best way to address these issues is to produce the NCAA's policy for coaches when becoming aware of an alleged event: Report it up and over, and get out of the way. Which is exactly what Joe did.

Then, if someone wants to have a meaningful discussion, discuss the fact that Mr. McQ, Dranov, Paterno, Curley & Schultz (apparently) were all told (or at least heard) different things than what MM told the investigators. These are facts. So, at the end of the day, while there still may be some misdeeds on the part of Schultz (still don't know for sure), MM clearly made everyone's job more difficult.

At the end of the day, Paterno was a bit player. I no longer try to defend PSU or CS&S, but I cut Joe out of that picture and show football had nothing to do with it. If I get push back on that, I point to the NCAA dropping the sanctions and restoring the wins.

I tell them , you know the State of PA loves people like you. You bought what they were selling as it keeps the light off of them and their failings. As long as people keep believing their story , our kids remain at risk.
And shut up and take it from there

N&B, you could get him a copy of English Grammar for Dummies, perhaps highlighting the section that explains Past Participle phrasing?
:D
It's all so aggravating, isn't it.

Here are the gunslingers in Tom Corbett's Office of Attorney General, that also did the Sandusky case.

I find that if you bring up Frank Fina, the hard core porn and his conduct - and the inflammatory presentment that was supposed to be a hit job on Dr. Spanier - people step back, actually think and go "oh yeah - crappy PA politics". Penn State's goose was being cooked all along down in Harrisburg, and there wasn't a damned thing they could do about it. It didn't matter whether Joe was still coaching or not, really. It was never about Joe or Mike, or "the children" for that matter.

Based on your posting I suspect that you must have information obtained from more credible sources than what is publicly known, otherwise you would not have made a statement which excludes the highly credible premise that EVERYTHING known about Sandusky - Penn State - Pateno - C/S/S ANYONE you can think of - is STILL tainted by a process of information gathering that is suspicious, at best.

Why not share this private, personally verifiable information with everyone else??? Did you participate personally in one of Sandusky's "general hygiene" classes??? If you did, why not share that with all of us...and by the way.... how much was the check????

I would show him that picture of Aaron Fisher on a bed of cash flipping off the camera and tell him "this is the most credible "victim"

I'm sure all of the people who were only concerned about the victims feel better now because $12 million to MM will certainly make the victims better. I mean none of these people are taking great joy in Penn State being forced to payout more to MM because that would mean they don't care about the victims, they just hate Penn State and that certainly can't be the case.
