I read all those threads.

Part of me was in denial. I knew, yes, we were gonna svck. We all did. But, I just didn't realize how deep it went. You guys did. I thought Sandberg, beginning of the season, would work some mojo. Well, you guys were spot on.

Nonetheless, I still enjoy watching Phillies baseball. It is what it is. 2004-present has been fun for me.

Been a fan for a long time, remember the 23 game losing streak and the good times. Personally I think Sandberg was allowed to resign to retain some dignity. Poor manager and worse at managing professionals. Too many public spats. What is troubling is the lack of player development. Years ago they were developing players like Juan Samuel and Julio Franco. Phils were early players in the Dominican market but lost whatever edge they had. May have been a management decision or they may have been out worked.

With new leadership the Phils will make an effort to buy their way out of this mess. They will wait a bit for some of the Big contracts to be off the books. No need to wait since they have tons of TV money and tax advantages. The "slow down" will be because of their self imposed spending limit. My guess would be a ton of young players next year to look at AND the year after a big dip into the free agent market to buy some mid-age talent. I do not see them doing any big contracts for older players that have big names. In short, next year will be painful but interesting (young players).
