Read the "Sports Gene" by David Epstein. I have not listened to Dake on this podcast, he definitely has some unique views on what helps him with athletic performance, but it does work for him.
Regarding the Sports Gene, people who are indigenous to specific parts of the world can have unique genetic advantages that can help them with athletic performance. For example, genetics is a big reason why distance running is dominated by people from a specific valley in Kenya/Ethiopia. They actually have ankles that have a smaller diameter which gives them a mechanic advantage in running over distances.
Sprinting is dominated by people from a very small area of Jamica, hello Usain Bolt.
Sherpa's thrive in high altitude on Everest.
There are parts of Africa where the population has better immunity than people from other parts of the world, they are also more susceptible to sickle cell. Some kind of evolution over time.
Where Dake gets it wrong is bringing skin color into it, it's genetics.
