Definitely a movie that did not need to be remade....it didn’t need to made in the first place.
She's terrific. I just wish she didn't have the health problems or she'd be in the all-time great category. her superbowl performance was the best, only rivaled by Prince and Up With People
I know, I’m just on a rampage about remade movies and TV shows. Can’t anyone write anything new nowadays? Seeing that Murphy Brown is coming back sent me over the edge.

They also brought Magnum P.I. back but as with Rockford Files, no way you can recapture the original mojo.
Magnum PI, Hawaii Five 0, Roseanne, Full House, Murphy Brown, Dynasty, One Day At a Time, Will & Grace, Macgyver....it just goes on and on. Someone write an original show, especially for Network tv.

This movie is likely going to sweep awards season this year. Cooper's directorial effort and Gaga's big cross-over win. I saw Gaga perform in DC in support of the Monster's Ball tour and she was phenomenal - just totally nonstop.
I saw the new A Star Is Born earlier this evening. It wasn't high on my list of movies to see, but sometimes you have to compromise.
I was surprised. The movie was more interesting than I expected. And while I haven't seen the Barbara Streisand version in decades, and as such don't remember every aspect of it, I found this version far more compelling, believable, and interesting than Streisand's version.
When the movie came out, I put it on the list of those that I was unlikely to go see. I probably wouldn't have gone if a couple we were friends with, and hadn't gone to a movie with in some time, invited us to go see it. I'm glad that my plans were altered.
Bradley Cooper was much more believable in his role as the aging star than I would have expected. He showed more depth to his character than is usually the case with his acting. I'm not a big Lady Gaga fan, but she did a very nice job in her role as the unknown that becomes a star.
I'd give it a 3/3.5 out of 5 stars, which is far more than I was anticipating.

I never saw the movie or any of the remakes but this chick is a legit musician, piano and voice. Didn't realize it till I heard her sing and play on Howard Stern. Until then I put her in the bubblegum category but she's legit. So wrong was I.
big gaga fan. will never forgive her for the back issue that caused her to miss her bjc gig a few years ago.
had tix for us, my daughter and grand daughter and friends. kidding about not forgiving, but wish she'd made up the concert after she healed. none of us have been able to see her since the incident

Excellent movie and soundtrack. Didn’t see Streisand’s but critics all say this is much better. Did see Judy Garland’s and that was good also. Dice Clay is hilarious as Gaga’s dad. Sam Elliott was really good. Haven’t spoke to one person that didn’t like it. Btw this is coming from a guy whose favorite TV series of all time is the Wire.
On a separate note I saw Bohemian Rhapsody and it was cool hearing all of Queen music but no real stand out performances other than the lead actor.

It doesn't seem like it, although the trailer for Green Book looks good.
Murphy Brown was funny 20 years ago but I watched 5 minutes of the remake and changed the channel. Same with Roseanne and Magnum.
But I do think Will and Grace is pretty good.
