LaMont Wade returning to Penn State

The way I read it is that he will very possibly transfer after 2019 as a grad student or perhaps declaring (seems like long shot currently). Would be a great story if he has an outstanding 2019 season.

I agree. I hope Wade has a great 2019 season so that he does have the opportunity to early declare for the NFL. However, as you mentioned, he could very well be a graduate transfer after the 2019 season if he is not happy with his playing time or his place on the depth chart. But in my opinion, he never left the team, he tested the market, and he realized that Penn State has been and will continue to be the best opportunity for him.

Good news, it seems to me.

I hope we see LaMont fulfill his potential and play his best football in 2019. That could mean a very good starter and defensive playmaker, or it could mean being a role player and special teams stalwart. A year from now, he'll be closer to graduation and feel like he's given his best; no wondering "what-if"

I'm rooting for him!

Good for him. Now he needs to shut up, put the drama queen stuff away for next year when he transfers and work on getting better. He will help special teams.

His transfer didn’t make too much sense. Unless he played Div II, he would have had to sit out a year. Well, that’s unless he hired Mr. Mars to get a waiver. Can he afford him?

1. To be clear... I'd hold absolutely no ill-will towards a kid for testing the waters.

That being said. I am not sure I exactly like his message. I am reading it to mean that he is "sacrificing" by coming back to Penn State, because he only has 3 semesters to earn his degree.

The party line will be that Duzz turned him down and he came crawling back to PSU.

More proof that the universe is out to f$^# with Pitt. Pitt fans get all excited that the recruit they used to hate was going to leave PSU to join them... then he doesn't.

After this scenario, I think it's clear that once a player enters the portal, CJF tell them to clean out their locker. There's a good chance they're not permitted into Lasch going forward. Hard to say, but I'm sure lessons were learned by all and 38 might be the example used going forward.

Is there any other choice? Honestly don't know so am asking the question. I wonder what the legal responsibility is for a kid when he is in the portal. And, if that isn't a problem, the virus one may carry in the locker or weight rooms. I'd be surprised if any top team coaching staffs let kids who enter the portal mix with the rest of the team.

Good for LaMont. I am glad he is going to be apart of the run the next 2 years. He can only get better and see the field more now. Things will look up for the young man.

The fact that Pitt fans actually thought that they had a shot at him is comical.

This is all new uncharted territory. I do not hold it against him in any way shape or form. And if he wants to explore as a grad transfer next year so be it. I would welcome him back with open arms. I would also challenge him to do whatever it takes to get the #1 spot he believes he deserves. More weights, film, stay after practice, etc. If he only has 3 classes he should have plenty of time to be the best Wade he can be. Welcome back young man!

I think he said three semesters, not classes.

Business decision. He will make another one next year.

Agree...welcome to college football post 2018 I guess!

Wade would have had to sit a year or go to a lower division. Neither option helps him in 2019. Next year, assuming he has his degree, he can xfer without penalty. If he doesn't have his degree, he'll end his college career with PSU or have it ended by PSU (for all intents and purposes and assuming he stays healthy and doesn't RS).

Its a smart move for Wade and good for PSU. Kudo's to the staff for retaining him. It also sets a good precedent for other players testing the xfer waters of the portal and still having a path back to PSU.
