So as of late last evening, we now have 13 commitments. There are about 7 spots left (assuming we're taking 20, it could be just 18 or it could be up to 22 so I'll split the difference for now). What's your "wish list" look like now? I think for the most part, nothing has really changed for most of us but it's always nice to regroup and look at the big picture again... here's mine:
OL Anthony Whigan, Jackai Moore
QB Michael Johnson, Jr
RB Noah Cain
DT Jarad Harrison-Hunte
DE Adissa Isaac
S Cam'Ron Kelly
If we're able to land all of the above, the class will close out quite nicely. I feel very confident about Whigan and Isaac but I am less confident in the remainder with Cain being my least confident. I'll trust Ryan and pick Hunte as my third most likely but I have to be honest, Georgia still worries me.
If we don't land Cain, keep Kendrall Flowers in mind... and who knows, there could easily be a guy out there who isn't even on our Board right now, Franklin has a way of finding those guys. As someone else mentioned, David Bell could also be a wildcard, if we miss out on Cain, do we take a third receiver? I don't think you can say "no" to someone of Bell's stature.
Ben Smiley is an intriguing possibility if we miss out on Hunte. I'm looking forward to reading how his visit went yesterday.
Offensive line is my position of least concern, we already have 2 highly touted linemen and Whigan is likely to be no. 3 early this week. Moore is on my wish list but I'm thinking we're going to miss on him, he's had plenty of opportunities to commit but all we've gotten are crickets. I strongly suspect it's going to be one of Rouse, Franks or possibly Allen (not sure how his visit went just yet). Maybe we'll take 3, that could be the other spot vacated by Cain should he go elsewhere or if we're taking more than 20.
Ah, safety, I have no idea. Cine, to me, is gone- I took him off my list of potential options. While I'd love to get him, the tea leaves aren't screaming "leave him on there". Kelly is interesting but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't land him, either. Lots of time and there are other options so I'm not all that worried (today- talk to me tomorrow and I'll probably feel differently haha).
Finally, at QB all signs point to us for Johnson, Jr but you just never know. If we miss on him, that's another spot that could go to another WR, OL or who knows, even a DL. Oh, and before I forget, there's always a possibility there could be a TE out there. Still lots of moving parts, isn't this exciting? (and a little maddening, too LOL).
