something like 150 yards in next to no time. How does that happen.

Can’t tackle. John Reid isn’t very good anymore. Lack of ability to adjust to o$u running the same two plays over and over. Etc.

Nobody wants to say it, but they simply CHOKED. You give up around 250 yards the first 52 minutes of the game and then 150 in the final eight minutes. There is no other word to describe it and it was just like last year. The defense suddenly forgot how to tackle or execute against plays they had already defended well.

Tackling was pathetic those two drives. Numerous whiffs. And neither of the players that scored appeared to have blazing speed or cutback skills; both looked lanky and like they were standing upright after catching the ball.

How does one (as a coach) fix this so far into the season?

Disagree on that point. We didn't defend the screen well all night, from Dobbins' TD at the end of the 1st half and through the 2nd.

Correct. The screen pass was something we just never seemed to defend last night. Guys were completely out of position and over pursued. One of the most frustrating games I have ever watched.

OSU has better athletes. They finally found ways to get them in space. Poor tackling didn't help, but our D was gassed in the 4th. Quite frankly, the D played way better than I expected. But, still not where it needs to be.

It really is unbelievable isn't it? If anyone had said before the game that OSU would have 14 points with under 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter, we'd have all been elated. And then boom, 2 quick scores and it's over. It shows you the fine line between really good and great. We need to take that next step.

And we knew this team had major holes based on the first few games. Last night exceeded my expectations by far. That doesn't mean I am not disappointed given they had a chance to win. Several offensive play calls were questionable in my mind. But, to fire CJF or assistants for that effort? They actually should get credit for having a chance to win with a minute left in the 4th. CJF has been great for PSU and will be great for PSU. But clearly need to take this next step, starting with more elite talent.

I'm embarrassed to admit that after the 4th and 5 play went awry I blurted out someone needs to get fired for that call. Dumb on my part. I disagreed with the call but I think we're really close to getting over the top. Love the direction of the program. Let's see how we respond to this.

Lots of uncomfortable similarities to the game against App State, where they went up and down the field in the 4th quarter to take the lead, with a combination of accurate passes and poor tackling.

I was definitely pulling for you guys last night as I believe my Wolverines have a better shot at beating you guys at the Big House than OSU at the Shoe plus Bosa might be back for our game with them.

But I just have a hard time believing that your coaching staff couldn't figure out that they were coming at you - time after time - late in the game with screens. That was the difference in the game IMO

I am reminded of something Joe told the Morgantown, WV, Touchdown Club years ago when he was guest speaker:

Some guy asked him "when will we be able to consistently beat Penn State?"

He said, "When you get better players. You have some excellent players, as good as anyone. Just not enough of them."

Because that's a big part of Ohio State's offense. They try to get the ball to fast guys in space and turn what should be small gains into big ones and their guys are usually better than yours.

They couldn’t stop our Dline in first half. So OSU coaches adjusted to quick passes. We didn’t adjust to that. I’m no coach, but played some. You jump routes, have Dline get in passing lanes and get hands up.

Okay, agree they didn't defend the screens well all night. But three of OSU's TDs (especially the two longer ones) were the most painful to watch with the Keystone Kops tackling. Just so difficult to watch them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Couldn’t control the line of scrimmage on offense or defense
