LaVarr on The Herd

Good interview....didn't get in to Penn state stuff though.

Although interesting note:

Herd: ever want to coach college football?

LaVarr: If Urban called I would, If James Franklin called I would, if Brent Pry called I would....

No insight, anything like that, just interesting to hear him say that.

Was there anyone who called and he said he wouldn't?

Some examples: Walt Harris, The Dooz, MTSUs Rick Stockstill?

When you have no experience, you have to call them, not wait for someone to call you.

Would love to see him make the Leap to our coaching staff.

Humorous LaVar quote about his NFL career "I left my cape in State College"

Do you really need that defined?

LdN
actually yes
because no experience implies he has no football experience period, but since the topic is "coaching" we are taking the leap of faith that we are talking coaching experience , but yet here he does have some HS coaching experience so to say none is incorrect or maybe you didnt know that. As of matter of fact he has more official coaching experience than Sean Lee yet everyone one would love Sean to come back and coach with no coaching experience.

So the term no experience does need to be defined

Two or three years coaching high school is no experience when it comes to coaching at the upper level of college football. Unless LaVar wants to go the Larry Johnson route of spending 15-20 years as a top high school coach he needs to be making the calls about college coaching opportunities. Start calling about Grad Asst., Dir. of Operations, etc.openings or something at the I-AA level to get some college experience.

I would think that with his reputation and an attitude like that there would be a long list list of schools at some level willing to take a chance.

Nobody remembers the Lavar Leap? Mostly joking here since Lavar as a player was not very coachable despite how great he was but I do like the recruiting position idea.
Deon Sanders started his own HS football academy. I don’t have first hand knowledge of Deon’s ability to coach, but I assume he delegates/outsources the tackling to someone else.
