In my career I worked in six different companies over a period of 45 years (HR Management).
In that span I worked with hundreds of managers and gained a fair amount of insight on leadership,
good, bad, and mediocre. It requires several different traits/characteristics to be a strong
and effective leader, but one thing I found as a common thread among all good leaders
is COMPETENCE. Followers/team members look for their leader to be highly competent
at their specific role for the team and the organization. Its not the only thing that matters,
but without personal competence the leader can not sustain their leader role, no matter
what other good qualities they may bring to the party So that brings me to TR.
Last night was a display of QB incompetence at a very severe level. Now as someone on this
Board has said, perhaps with two weeks to develop a game plan around TR's particular
strengths and weaknesses, he can attain a descent level of competence that can be applied
in game circumstances. On offense, there is no substitute for who the leader is and no position
nearly as important as QB. We all know that to be true. Last night you could already see signs of
dissention among the OL as competent offensive leadership was absent. That is my biggest
concern for the rest of the season, assuming Cliff is unable to return.
