Well we wasted 2 power play opportunities and then gave up an odd man rush to go behind 1-0. We definitely haven’t come out with the same fire we had last night.

And we just gave up another odd man rush to go down 2-0 just before the end of the period and Wisconsin just started their 3 minute power play that will bleed into the second. This was the worst start imaginable it has been a nightmare.

4 in the box! 2 min left in the 1st. Despite 3 PPs, PSU still down 0-1.

Terrible flow to the period. Three lengthy reviews. Period didn’t end until 7:50. Our guys better start out quickly this period. Kill this penalty and get one back.

We are being outshot 18-10 and just gave up an absolute garbage goal. Down 3-0 with 13 minutes left in the second and showing no signs of life and just took another penalty. This is as bad as it gets especially for a Senior night. Season probably hanging in the balance over the next period and a half.

Probably the most uninspired performance I’ve witnessed in this arena.

Pilewicz breaks through from Marsh and Limoges. A little spark in the building now finally. Still down 3-1 with 8 to go in the second. But then we took another tripping penalty and are now short handed until the 6 minute mark.?still being outshot 25-16.

Another weak one gets through for a 4-1 deficit with 2 and a half in the second. Truly pathetic effort . We’re going on the power play for the last 2 minutes of the period. Feels like now or never at this point.

And it’s NEVER .. we give up a short handed goal. 5-1. Put a fork in it we have not played this poorly since the inaugural season.

Berger cuts it to 5-2 with 8 seconds left in the period. If that doesn’t light a fire I don’t know what will tonight

And we promptly go down 6-2 one minute into the third period. Jones has been pulled in favor of senior Chris Funkey which appears to be an act of surrender.

Horrible night for team to not show up. Win tonight would have moved team up to 3rd in B1G with a chance to actually grab 2 seed with a split at ND. Now team is going to have to win B1G to make post season tourney. That guaranteed spot in Allentown for making it is all but gone unless there is some miracle.

Yup - I am still in shock. Barring a miracle sweep of Notre Dame next week (not happening) that will probably be the last home game for the year. This was a season of lost opportunities. Lot of games that coulda shoulda woulda gone the other way. Hope I’m wrong but I don’t see a B10 tourney run getting us into the NCAA’s. Team has the talent but just can’t consistently get on the same page.

We lose 7-3.

With a sweep of ND next weekend (unlikely given the way the season has played out), PSU could still clinch 2nd place (would need Wisconsin to sweep Michigan, also unlikely). With a ND sweep, PSU could finish last (if MSU were to sweep OSU, as unlikely as PSU finishing 2nd). Most likely outcome, I think, is that PSU and ND hold current positions (assuming a split) and that PSU travels to South Bend for the quarterfinals. Will be interesting to see how the team plays a third game if they split the first two of the quarterfinals! Go State!

...and, given the standings, PSU @ ND in the quarterfinals may be out unless there is a tie in there, as I think that ND would jump Minnesota (and Michigan would do the same with at least a split vs Wisky) if they split with PSU next weekend. So, maybe PSU @ Minnesota is more likely. We'll obviously know after next weekend!

If I'm not mistaken ND already has. My Gophers played like crap on Friday, but rebounded on Saturday to lock home ice for the first round. If you can sweep ND, I think that might move us up one. Minnesota's final series is against ASU at Mariucci (Home). However, if I were PSU's coach, I'd consider tanking to play at Minnesota. The way the Nittany Lions have owned the Gophers, that would have to be a favorable match up for Penn State.

USCHO is showing Minnesota with 36 points and ND (& Michigan) with 34 points; of course, Minnesota is done with conference play while the remaining teams have two more each. I think that Minnesota is a lock for home ice in the quarterfinals, no? Seeks like 4th place is worst case. Anyhow, I'm sure the Gophers will have all the motivation they need from last year if they draw PSU, lol. Would be interesting to see what happens if it would go to a third game! Good luck against ASU (at this point, seems like both Minnesota and PSU have to win the conference to make the big tourney!).

Things do look a bit bleak right now, but if we sweep Notre Dame everything changes and suddenly we would be the second highest rated team in the Big Ten going into the conference tournament. Let’s see how this weekend plays out before we write off the team just yet.

We (The Gophers) did lock up a spot according to Gophersports.com

I haven't been following Pairwise rankings, or been on USCHO for some time. I am sure you are correct that one of our programs will need to win the tournament to make the NCAA's.

I was cheering for you to smoke Wisconsin. After seeing Friday nights score, I was already assuming PSU would sweep. I'm cheering for you to crush ND!

BTW I am hoping that we don't see you in the first round.
