LOL PSU preparing to deal with TAMU

PSU is supposedly preparing to deal with TAMU coming after CJF.

I will say it now. ABSOLUTELY 0% Chance that he leaves PSU for TAMU

So he'll leave his home state and region where he has anchored in firm ties in recruiting and fan base, is enjoying success and is among the top 5 paid coaches in the country...... to leave for a place he has zero ties and has a habit of running coaches out of town. Sure, makes sense.

aTm needs a Texas guy for their job. This is pure media click bait.

Right. Like Gary Patterson.

Hang on, where does this innuendo come from. As in, what is the actual basis of this article whatsoever?

TAMU can't deal with an African American coach now with having racial issues against him. Why would Coach Franklin put his family in that situation? Plus, why step down. That program has never been an equal to PSU let alone above us.

Gambit is going to try to have it "his way"...

Coincidental click bait with no backing source or a true show me the money and let's see what happens?

A&M isn't in disarray by any means. They just have Saban on the schedule yearly. Beating Michigan and Ohio State in the same season @ PSU has much better odds of happening than beating Saban in a given season. How many coaches, currently employed, have more than 1 win vs Saban at Bama? Does Meyer?

Outside of them throwing some insane amount of money, I can't see it.

aTm has unlimited money to throw around. You need to take every threat seriously.

$9MM/yr? I would not put it past them. What would YOU do if someone was going to make you the highest paid in America?

I think I've tracked down the anonymous source for this article.

Fair flashed money at Shue, to no avail. Well, I think it was money.

The article basically just say "Penn State officials" bracing for aTm to make a run at Franklin if they fire Sumlin.

So question becomes, how would potential info like this surface? Consider:

It would be illegal for aTm to approach Franklin without contacting the school first. Even taking that aside, there is less than 0 chance this would be done in October with a 4-2 and 6-0 big name schools involved in the equation.

The most likely scenario of what happened was Dodd sliced and diced a PSU officials comments into something they weren't, combined it with potential big school openings and fired off a 20 second article and Tweet to get clicks.

Doesn't he also have a low buyout? $2 mil? Doesn't Ogeron have a $12 million or so buyout?

Seems to be working.

Agree with this. A&M is really in a better position short- and long- (the SEC is a better conference to play in to become a national brand vs. the Big XII) term vs. their rivals up in Austin.

Unfortunately, there is that monolith up to the northeast in Tuscaloosa.

I read this stat last week ----- current SEC coaches are 2-35 (!!!!!) all-time when going up against Nick Saban. Sumlin actually has one of the 2 victories. The other one is Gus Malzhan at Auburn, in the Kick Six game.

Yeah, that all seems plausible. But why Penn State and why Franklin specifically? I mean, he could write that same headline for 30 schools and 100 coaches right?

"UCF bracing for Nebraska to go after Frost." "Alabama Bracing for Every major D1 program to go after Saban."
