The Sunday shows ought to present lots of spin by both sides as to the format and substance of the debate.
In no particular order, I think the following will be important topics before, during and after the debate:
1. ABC? George (Mr. Objective Journalist") Stephanopoulos? Why? It isn't like Trump had no say in this selection, especially after the 1st debate being on CNN. Is this another example of Trump thinking he is so superior to everyone (opponents and Leftie media) he doesn't have to worry, it'll all work out? He did very well against Biden on CNN (low bar), but if you play with shit long enough, you're bound to get some on you.
2.What about the mic controversy? Common wisdom is that Commu-la wanted open mics because she could interrupt and counter Trump's so-called "lies" as he says them and that tactic would cause Trump to lose his shit and go ballistic with personal attacks and comments that would cost him dearly with more "moderate" voters. First of all, Commu-la isn't smart enough to make pithy quips in real time, that one of Trump's specialties. This may aid Commu-la more than Trump (just like the Dem/Socs to say the exact opposite of what they really believe). On the other hand, this format does impose a check on Trump's instinct to go all medieval on her. Commu-la will have plenty of time and opportunities to launch her counter-arguments if she can...,. so the whole issue is really not important IMO.
3.Will Commu-la continue to get away with dodging her responsibility for her (vital?) role as a part of the Biden/Harris Regime? Border Czarina? Last person in the Oval advising Biden on Afghan "withdrawal"? Casting the tie breaking vote as VP in the Senate to pass the laughably named "Inflation Reduction Act"? and, generally, being MIA while it was obvious to everyone in the country that her boss was senile and putting the country in danger because of his significant cognitive disabilities? My guess is that ABC and George S are far less concerned about appearing to be even handed than CNN was and that they will avoid all of those issues or obfuscate and/or somehow try to make them Trump's fault. It'll be that same m.o. as the talk shows take..... endless attacks on Trump and softballs to Commu-la that allow her to word salad her way through her responses with no effective follow up questioning.
4. How about the candidates' plans for their Presidency if they win? Trump has specific plans (some controversial for sure) but Commu-la has offered very little other than the few copycat things she's read from her prepared scripts at rallies. Will George and c allow her to get by with "being unburdened by the past" and some vague promises to go after the rich and price gouging corporations? Of course he will, because the Left is all about FEELZ and DEI and being FAAAIR. No analysis of what policies made pursuant to those pillars of the Dem/Soc Party lead to, but why go into all of that? The danger here for Commu-la is her haviing to explain her "flip-flopping" on so many issues. How does she explain the "my values have stayed the same, it's my policy stances that have changed" statements? It's total BS, of course, so the only way around it is to ignore it and act like the stupid Bimbo didn't actually try to run that by the American public. I'm sure just reassuring us that she's now (and forever in the future) in favor of fracking, more police to quell runaway crime and support of Israel..... no prob, she's true to her word, right?
5. Then there is the battle of the VP choices. Will they get into that? Most likely not.... this is ABC. Tampon Tim offers a target rich environment for Trump, but he has to control it and not go a step (or two) too far in his attacks. Commu-la has some issues to raise against JD, but they are mainly political stances, not like TT's stolen valor, relations with China or his handling of the Minnesota riots, etc. This will be a relatively low payback topic and the VP debates will hash these issues out.
So, what do we think? Any other issues to discuss? Any surprises? Will the debate make a difference at all? Maybe not, but it will be entertaining.
