speculate that if mega and zain don't redshirt we score about 25 more points and we probably/might finish second in exchange for 6th and improved odds of national championship next year. If we don't redshirt them, we go into next year without mega and our odds of NC go down slightly, so was it worth it?..... discuss

Well, I agree with the Redshirts..that being said

You can't just add 25 points to our score.. Mega, Retherford and Nolf..(there is no doubt Nolf wrestles if we did not redshirt other 2) They would totally change the Brackets.....Match ups would be different and God knows what would have happened in those 3 weight classes. Maybe Mega meets Tomasselo before Finals... Maybe the last guy to beat Steiber does it again...Maybe Nolf gets tougher throughout the season and builds on his victory over Realbuto?? Who knows but all 3 of those guys could have made the finals......Yes Maybe even Nolf.........do they make it there knocking out Buckeyes??? Who knows??

And maybe we have no finalists and still lose.

It took 5 AA's to win this year. That was the assessment by the staff in September..5-6 AA's and was part of the reason for the RS's. If we managed to keep seven rolling into the Q finals, a whole bunch of things might be different. 3 SV losses….things would be different. We had a chance. Missouri was a favorite and landed 4th. Minnesota…… This field was wide open and we were in the mix. OSU is one of two teams that did what they had to do. Edinboro was the other Iowa slumped.

Cael said we might need a miracle before the tourney to relieve some pressure but gave you a glimpse of what he's been saying at different points this year. They assembled this years team this way because they believed there was a shot based on the competition. And there was.

And maybe….just maybe….we can also recognize that different champions can enhance our sport, we can live with 6th to help our sport grow.

Next year…..different animal. Growl…...

No gripes here....nearly all the top guys end up red-shirting

David Taylor, Ed Ruth, Quentin Wright, etc. -- all red-shirted
Seems fair to Nico and Zain to allow them to reach their individual potential

This group acquitted itself well in the NCAA Tournament, and the future is bright.

Bingo!

Nico and Zain "took one for the team" when they by-passed their initial red-shirt seasons and the team was rewarded as National Champs.

Good to see the program willing to "take one for their wrestlers" via a red-shirt year.

Not only does it help them to improve individually, but it also helps them by adding them into what should be a much stronger lineup, capable of being competitive for conference and national honors again.

Seems like a Win-Win situation for most of our wrestlers. It gave the Altons a final chance to also contribute, to the level they could achieve, after they had contributed to PSU's championship successes. It also gave other dedicated wrestlers their opportunities to do their best this season, who might not have had those chances, without the strategic decisions.

Guessing that most of the team is happy with the strategic move this season.

Really looking forward to next season, to see how the team gels together around a new mix of excellent talent.

Well worth it.

It appears to me that the Staff makes these decisions with the kids in mind. What are their goals? What is best for them? With that in mind, making a few fans happier seems secondary or tertiary.... or even fourthiary.
