Have the Tennessee fans started rioting yet?

So, this puts Tennessee in an even tougher spot - because the field of available candidates is dwindling, and F$U will pony up some big numbers to get a big name.

Franklin to F$U. :D

A&M is a better program than FSU? I've been to Lubbock, not a great place honestly.

A&M is LOADED. And they've just invested a ton into facilities. SEC team in the heart of some of the best recruiting territory in the country too.

A&M is not where I'd want to go as a recruit if I have my choice of UT, Baylor, OK and AL. I just don't ever seen A&M being a sustained top ten team.

Is Fisher leaving solely because of a bad year where he lost his qb or is it something else? If its the former than the FSU fanbase better be careful, the program could implode.

Id much rather be in College Station than Tallahassee. It’s not close. Also the SEC commands more respect than the ACC. Plus it’s really all about the $$$ and A&M will pay up

Sumlin was recruiting pretty well there. Here are his Rivals rankings from 2012 - 2017:

2012 - 15
2013 - 11
2014 - 6
2015 - 10
2016 - 17
2017 - 10

Note: Alabama was #1 every year during that period save one (2015).

I think Willie Taggart is the name to watch at Florida State.
For years Florida, FSU and Miami dominated recruiting in Florida, now UCF and USF are poaching players from the traditional big three. The real challenge for the big three though is all the out of state power schools are now regularly recruiting Florida and siphoning talent that once belonged to Florida, Miami and FSU. I live in SW FL and our sports pages carry as much Michigan, OSU info as they do the local FL schools.

has to be huge money for him to leave. Look at the past 30 years of A&M football, i would not say that it is real impressive. Plus, there have been rumors of Jimbo not being real happy at FSU for a couple of years, so probably a combination.

I think this huge money getting thrown around in the latest round of coaching moves is bad for college football.

It seems that Fisher has a poor relationship with the admin at FSU. I think he is just no longer happy there. He already has his NC, and can make a boatload of money at A&M and retire in a few years once they run him out.

It appears that FSU wants Taggart from Oregon, and premiminary talks have already happened.

Agree but coaches want to be a sustained program like tOSU and AL...Sumlin did about as good as you are going to do IMHO. There is no upside other than the pay.

Factor in Kiffin at FAU and Butch Davis at FIU and the competition is even stiffer for FL talent

College Station is about 100 miles from Houston. Not that far from the 4th largest city in the country.
Heard on radio that Houston is the greatest producer of NFL talent per capita. Also not far from Dallas or Louisiana.

While UCF and USF have been extremely successful this year, to state that they are poaching any players that are being recruited by Florida, FSU and Miami is the equivalent to saying that Temple is poaching players from PSU. The number of players who committed to UCF and USF that had committable offers from the other big 3 schools are few and far between. The success of USF and UCF is a product of the talent pool in Florida and the limited scholarships that the big 3 schools have available.

I have relatives in Houston. All high school sports are "bigly" there - especially football and baseball.

He's leaving because he isn't a very good coach and aTm is willing to pay him.

Next season, when FSU falters again, he will be worth considerably less.

i believe that Jimbo asked for upgrades to facilities and the FSU brass did not sign off

also, while it was a few years ago, I believe he went thru a bad marital situation down there... so that may factor in

This will be noted in your performance review.

I know you are joking (I think). But there is one prominent poster who will save my mistake and bring it up at some point over the next 18 months. Amazes me people are that vindictive and have that much time.

Interesting. Thought FSU envisioned Jimbo as another lifer like Bowden.

Unlikely we'll see many tenures like BB and JoePa ever again.

USF and UCF not so much yet but most of the ACC and SEC hit Florida hard and the
Big Ten makes somewhat of a dent. But FSU's recruiting has still been very good and
they should have done better this year. QB injuries hurt them some. Florida is the one
who has had its' recruiting fall off. I expect that to change with Mullen.
